So do you know any example of an artist or band having a hit song that a hit on the mainstream pop charts but not on their home base chart. For example an R&B artist having a song that is on the pop charts, but makes no transaction on the R&B chart, ditto for rock stars, etc.
I am more of an R&B fan, so I can only use those examples.
"Beat It" by Michael Jackson, I don't recall it getting much air play on R&B stations. "Ghostbusters" by Roy Parker Jr., that is a example of a song from a R&B star I don't ever recall hearing on any R&B stations or chats.

I know Parker Jr had a handful of solo RB hits and a bunch with Raydio before that, but Ghostbusters really wasn’t an RB song as much of a pop/ top 40 song

Both "Beat It" and Ghostbusters" were #1 hits on the R&B chart.
"She's Out Of My Life", on the other hand, went Top 10 on the pop chart, but only peaked in the 40s for R&B.
