The video he did about how much money he made during his WWE run was pretty neat. He really was the ideal "midcarder" of the era so it does give you an idea of just how much a PPV payoff could be a difference maker financially. Like, I remember Lance Storm talking about getting knocked off Wrestlemania 19 and being put on the pre-show. When asked about the difference in pay, he basically said it was a whole zero getting knocked off your check.
So yeah, no wonder dudes were competitive about getting on PPV and into those main event spots! That shit adds up.

Yeah, and also highlights why the InVasion was a really contentious time, especially for midcarders. Like, if you're Steve Austin, no WCW guy is going to be a problem. You'll be on any show and usually in a top spot. If you're a midcarder or jobber? It's a real goddamn problem, though I imagine the big buy rate on the InVasion PPV did soothe some tempers a little bit. But yeah, PPVs, video games, toys, that stuff still matters, but it used to be a HUGE deal. Hurricane apparently made more money from merch than anything else, so I honestly wonder if he was pissed when he got turned heel. Yeah, he got the cruiserweight title for like a year, but I doubt it made it worth it.

Does he have his eyebrows tattooed or something? There's something going on with his face that I cant quite figure out. He might have tattoos to fill them a certain way, like I know that's a thing, but I do know he gets his eyebrows done to groom them a certain way after Stephanie McMahon recommended he do that because of how thick his eyebrows were when he began with WWE. Jericho did a pool side promo shortly after unifying the belts in late 2001. Jericho said that after beating Rock and Austin in one night, there was nobody left for him to face. Jericho asks rhetorically, "who is left for me to beat? That kid from Tough Enough with the eyebrows?!" That line stuck with me for all these years. 🤣

For Hurricane, also it’s not like the cruiserweight reign was a year of him in the spotlight, main eventing shows and being heavily promoted. It was more a year of, “Oh yeah, I forgot, Hurricane is still cruiserweight champion.”

Yeah whether it's Maven himself or he has a team running things for him they're doing a great job working the Youtube algorithm. I was being recommended these videos before watching any of them and the numbers he's getting are great.
The steroid video is really interesting.

I'd love to hear how much weight he gained during the 18 months between his first and his second promo shoot, because while being a big improvement, just going by the visual it doesn't look unnatural.

Yeah, he has a dude that helps him with most of the technical stuff, guessing this may be part of that and not just to make the videos look good. I appreciate his use of props like the packaging for the steroids video or the stacks of money for the payment one. (He said the pill cases were fake, I kind of assume that so, too, were the stacks of money. ![:P](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/tongue.png) )

His latest video was 28 minutes long and I didn't even realize I sat through the whole thing without FF'ing parts. Maven is built for YouTube.

I've actually been watching tons of his stuff during morning cardio. I wasn't ever exactly a fan of his but he has tons of videos about topics I've always been curious about.

I need to check out his videos, but I know from his time on Rene Dupree's channel that he's a very great listen. He is one of many of those early/mid 2000s midcarders that had their lives made hell by the legends of the past

If anyone figures out his secret, let me know. Same. Except the time I broke it. Average is less than fifty views. Then one vid got 63k, before going back to normal.

Didn't Maven do infomercials for a while? Not surprised he's combined the skills he learned there and in wrestling, and taken to being a YouTuber like a duck to water.
