this takes me back to when I met him 10 years ago when he was bouncer in NYC. He actually spoke to us openly about the business. According to him, management often uses the line "you're going to be next guy" to several talent.

Maven had one of the most goated theme songs ever.
And remember when Tajiri snuck into the hospital to beat his ass that one time? "NO LAST NAME, JUST MAVEN!"

Sort of apt that they focused so hard on the entertainment part of WWE, because this sort of thing is peak entertainment industry.

I really enjoyed his match with Triple-H for the World Title, I knew he wasn't going to win but for a second I bought that nearfall at the end.

I watched the one where he talks about guys that he worked with. He didn’t have much bad to say about anyone. I think the worst was that HBK was kind of cold to him backstage, which is understandable because he was a Tough Enough guy. They didn’t ask him about Bradshaw, Baldcore, or Benoit either though. lol
He said that Eddie G helped him out by critiquing his matches when he didn’t need to, which was cool.
Maven still has the personality and charisma so I’ll check out more videos as he posts them.

Some of which were midcarders anyway.

They just hit the big names in this one. 🤷🏻♂️

For a guy who was legitimately just thrown into the business without a safety net, let alone being the first to be presented this way...I gotta give him credit.
Was he ready for it? No. Did he make the most of the opportunity? Absolutely. Could the company have done more for him? You better believe it! It's interesting that he seemed to really be hitting a stride right before he was released. His seemed pretty comfortable in his heel role with Simon Dean. Just bad timing to get rid of a guy when he's showing how much more he's capable of.

It's interesting that a lot of these guys were presented in the post WCW era, where they would constantly take potshots at how WWE had a better locker room, compared to the "inmates running the asylum". Not saying that WCW was the epitome of the way to run things, but I think I would rather deal with that over getting kicked out of the locker room indefinitely for eating chicken.

As far as I'm concerned the 2002 Royal Rumble is still an active match.

He had charisma and certainly wouldn’t have been any worse than some of those dudes that were hanging around during that era.

As far as I'm concerned the 2002 Royal Rumble is still an active match. always forgotten but Undertaker threw Maven back in the ring and then threw Maven over the top rope and far from the only time somebody already eliminated came back in the ring to eliminate somebody (Hogan to Bossman, Angle to Michaels in 05)

Maven vs. Steven Richards was THE marquee match on Heat in 2003.

Went from a bunch of guys being “lazy” and all about money and politics to a bunch of nerds who took wrestling too seriously and not disrespecting their “art”.

Yeah, you don't really hear of these kinda stories coming from the WCW locker room. Very political, sure, but no f***ing wrestler's court.
