Did anyone else enjoy Mick Foley's investigation into ran over Steve Austin?
He brought in some pretty fun cameos from people we haven't seen at the time.
Billy Gunn. Shawn Michaels.
It was fun when Austin stunned Shane at Unforgiven, but I don't think he should've stunned Blackman. There should've been a respect thing with the two Steve's. With Austin nodding in a rub kind of styles for Blackman.

Rikishi's motive was pretty reasonable before HHH ruined it.

This was my first angle, so I really don't know how to rationally evaluate it. To me, it was very good in a way I can't separate from learning to love wrestling.

From a continuity perspective I didn't like it because Rikishi was said to be hanging out with Too Cool backstage. At the time a year earlier (1999), Rikishi was pretty much a Sunday Night Heat guy and Too Cool hadn't turned face or been paired with Rikishi yet.

Until my dying breath, I'll bring up the same point, it could have succeeded if Rikishi just put on some f***ing pants. Also, if Austin didn't squash the ever loving shit out of him upon his return.

Yeah, change the gear, stop doing the Stinkface, and keep Austin and Rikishi away from each other a bit longer to draw it out longer. Giving him Haku as a partner for a little bit was at least something, but by then, the damage had been done.

Giving him Haku as a partner for a little bit was at least something, but by then, the damage had been done. The squash was 100% the right move for Austin, but it killed Rikishi dead. The audience wanted it, Austin should have done it, it was good for everyone but Rikishi. So, there's no sense carrying on with the character. Perfect sense if Rikishi was leaving, but he stayed and never recovered.

What I remember most, and still revisit, is the Rock’s promo on Smackdown when he’s accused and he make his denial 3 times, first in English then both ‘Swedish’ and ‘Chinese’, the latter especially for the high pitched yell at the end made funnier by Lawler claiming he’s ordered some dish

I was in the arena the night Mick cracked the case. I was a teenager and thought what Rikishi said was cool and thought it was the start of a great angle for Rikishi. Nope.

Very funny stuff. Got the whole roster involved in the storyline. Even Essa Rios got accused! The investigation stuff was great. Once Rikishi was revealed it did feel like an anticlimax and a let down but it still could have been made to work if Rikishi was booked correctly but the ball was dropped on pretty much everything. Got squashed by Austin, beaten by Rock, cost Rock the title by being an idiot, the music as much as I love Badman now the theme was a laughing stock back then especially with the very slow opening to the song. And of course his arse. Why was he not covering it up and losing the stinkface? By the time the 6 man Hell In A Cell came up and he was in it he already looked out of place despite being very much involved in the storyline and everyone I knew wished either Kane, Jericho or Benoit were in the match instead. I guess Rikishi could have done with the Bloodline story back then even if his motive for running over Austin was kind of that. Unless you count his explanation as a lie but he did it for both Rock & HHH basically that’s how I saw it.

Austin never gave a rub to anyone. And I'm saying that as a big Austin fan Well there was HHH. That's right. Austin beat HHH only once, and that was in 1996!

That's right. Austin beat HHH only once, and that was in 1996! They had a couple of rounds on the European house show circuit in 1998 days after Shawn left, Austin did decisively beat him there too But besides that, yeah, Austin couldn't get his hand raised against him during their main event run

The No Mercy match was fine. Austin needed it upon coming back. The cage match on Raw not long after where Austin did everything short of teabag the guy was where it really went south. Then they shoehorned in HHH.

The Rock especially with the WM 15 program was made by Austin in that he was able to make money in his own feuds.

Rikishi’s delivery of his explanation didn’t help. When Rock made fun of it, he didn’t have to exaggerate much.
