Why? This seems like a step backwards for her. She wants to make money & wrestle often. Really not that hard to understand. Bushiroad wasn't going to pay her well (or at least enough for her standards), and it would have been a complete gamble if she went to AEW (not that it was ever in the cards, as she's talked about how she would only ever work for WWE if she ever worked for a major western promotion), because while she might have been paid well, odds are pretty damn good she wouldn't be on TV often considering how toxic the booking is in AEW for the women. It also helps that WWE management actually likes KAIRI.

So interesting comments from Asuka I saw someone say she has said this before but I cannot remember that but also Asuka clearly likes trolling the interwebz with her comments so who knows if this is just her f***ing around again to get people talking or if she genuinely is winding down. She is building that what 3 story arcade building in Japan and I do not see why she would do that if she wasn't planning on going back to Japan to live in the near future otherwise you assume she would have built it stateside. And so if this is legit and she is truly winding down her career now. ASUKA VS KAIRI VS IYO at Mania (preferably for the title) please.

Hope Kairi got a really good contract deal, and I'm happy to see her return. A chance for WWE to do better with her.
Her ringside antics alone are always golden.

Next Rumble - the Liv v Kairi derby. Ok, vs the actual winner, but they can f*** off. Unless its Nikki Cross somehow. Or an AEW jumping ship Kris Statlander, which tbf, sounds like a scenario still more plausible than a WWE Nikki Cross push!

I want to see Asuka vs IYO in a battle for who gets custody of Kairi. I need this triple threat because of how deep the history runs with all three in so many facets. IYO and Asuka have their triple tails history with Io's sister KAIRI AND IYO are forever besties When KAIRI left NXT she was taken in by Asuka and changed IYO once she disregarded her care for KAIRI found success IYO is now besties with the woman who "retired" KAIRI from WWE in the first place

As a fan, that's a bummer, would much rather see her keep turning up at big STARDOM cards. But for her, hopefully she got paid and gets some good out of this. So it goes. Dave mentioned on WOR that money was one of the motivating factors here. Not from WWE, mind you. But Bushiroad Wrestling apparently wasn't willing to shell out the cash to continue to push her as an international star, especially since they have Mercedes now (who they view as a much bigger star which isn't wrong, but also she's injured so uhhhh yeah). He mentioned that the NJPW side of things isn't exactly loaded with cash right now, and mentioned that the G1 this year has had poorer than usual profits. He doesn't believe she'll be returning to TV imminently like PWInsider does, but does think she'll be back in the company by November. If you believe what he says, and combine it with what KAIRI has mentioned about WWE, it's not really shocking she's heading back. She had mentioned that Vince and Nick made great efforts to try and get her to stay the first time around, including a contract raise and all that. And Vince had pulled her aside on her last day in WWE and said that if she ever wanted to come back, to give them a call, they would be more than happy to bring her back into the fold. I believe it, it's been tough going financially in Japan since the pandemic, but again just speaking as a fan it's a bummer since I won't be following her much in WWE.

Not that they should wrestle for free, but I’d like to see more wrestlers who wrestle because they enjoy it and not for how much money they make.

I do think its also worth mentioning that KAIRI coming back to WWE is only a net positive for WWE at this point. If she ends up on Smackdown, she has feuds (or tag teaming) lined up with Asuka, Bayley, Iyo, Charlotte, Bianca, etc.
If she ends up on RAW, she instantly ends up as the most credible woman on the RAW roster not named Becky or Rhea. Which the RAW division desperately needs.

To be fair, they're in an industry where the amount of years they have to make money is pretty damn small and that can be derailed by a freak accident. Even if they still manage to stay healthy, they'll need to retire decades before most folks. It makes sense to get as much money as possible so that when the time comes, they can afford the rest of their life.
Most do it for the enjoyment but the reality is that they can't live on enjoyment. It would be like an artist trying to live on exposure.

This is a combat sport where one move could end your career You take the money where you can and where it makes sense for you. You can love the game but this is a livelihood, not a hobby I assume if Bushiroad came close to WWE money she would stay but you don't sell yourself short when you are good at something and when this is your career

An interesting thing that I didn’t know existed is this video that WWE uploaded to their YouTube channel when she left…
This isn’t something that they normally do at all so it’s super surprising they did it for Kairi…
