Not to be pedantic, and Jake was my favorite wrestler as a kid, but I don't believe he actually invented it. Popularized it, yes, but is there not video of someone in the 60's doing one?

Raven. At least I thought so. The kick to the stomach and then that extra snap on the DDT. 🤌🏻

I mean someone probably lost their balance while holding a front face lock at some point but it definitely didn’t become a thing until Jake. kind of like how Lou Thesz occasionally did a power bomb in the 50s but it didn’t catch on until the 80s in Japan.

I also thought Gangrel's Implant/Elevated DDT (or The Impaler) looked badass.

Another vote for Raven. Felt like it could come out of absolutely nowhere. The speed and intensity was so refreshing and made such great contrast to his brooding character.

I also though Gangrel's Implant/Elevated DDT (or The Impaler) looked badass. Great call. In that same vein, I love when Moxley hit the Death Rider and does that massive jump with it. Also, if we can extend this to variations on the DDT, Chavo's spinning corner DDT is a thing of absolute beauty.

I think I've seen him do it even in old black and white footage from the 60's. I'm a bit hesitant to call it a DDT, though, because the opponent rotates way more and they don't actually land on their face/head.
That's just being pedantic, though. Wrestling has so many styles all over the world that it's hard to say who actually invented what.

Raven. I’ve never liked the DDTs that left the person rolling over the other guy’s shoulder. It never looked devastating that way. Raven grabbed your head spiked you down and then there was no motion.
I’m a mark for a good DDT and Raven’s was #2 just behind Roberts.

The amount of love for Raven's DDT here makes me happy.

+1 for Raven
Arn's looked really good sometimes, but as I recall there were also a lot of times where he did the little hop first and the guy taking it flipped over, which didn't look as good.
