Lot of people think Cody's big announcement is the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic. If true then his big announcement is in fact a tournament. You can get the wrestler away from Tony, but you can't take the Tony away from the wrestler.

Sure but this is also just a reactionary response to hype the show a week ahead. AEW still has rampage, Collision and Dynamite to hype up next Tuesday. Title Tuesday was already announced I think I last week so they were going to respond but the Adam Copeland factor def took it over the Edge (no pun intended) At the end of the day it’s a simple ratings battle which I have no problem with since it’s competition. TK took his victory lap when they beat SD In the demo a few years ago Like, I know it’s all reactionary but it also wasn’t like the schedule for AEW and this Tuesday show wasn’t announced months ago and they had been sure Copeland was not only not signing a new deal but going to AEW for weeks, all feels sort of like ways you could have put some irons in the fire and set things up. In comparison, with their history, yeah, Saraya/Shida makes sense to be on that Dynamite and was built over a good few shows. If they suddenly say Mercedes Mone’s going to be in someone’s corner via phone call this week then I’d be saying the same thing, really. Also, as an aside, Rampage didn’t actually beat Smackdown in the demo, they tied which wouldn’t be a big deal except Roman/Brock basically drew the same in the demo with Soho/Bunny which WWE took as a loss and AEW took as a big win because…like, read that sentence again. 😆 This is also what gave us the birth of the Bunny being the true Tribal Chief board meme. 😛

WWE may have overcorrected in terms of what was needed to beat Dynamite. I get they want the win but the reaction might go from "wow NXT managed to beat AEW!" to "well of course they beat AEW, they had XYZ on the show!" We all know WWE can pop a huge rating whenever they want by trotting out the big names. So this doesn't really say anything (not that it would say much anyway if they ran a normal show but it says even less now).

WWE should just sent IYO down to NXT considering the few times NXT did beat AEW head to head those shows were main evented by IYO.

I don't think NXT needs to go this hard. AEW is going to lose enough viewers by moving nights anyway because they usually do. It's very funny though that the reaction to going against Dynamite is to throw out John Cena and Cody Rhodes on NXT. If anything, it kind of infers that they're reallllllllly trying to make a hard sell for NXT to a network or streaming platform. Not sure if that means nobody's interested or if they're just trying to maximize the dollar amount, but yeah.

If I was a betting man, I'd say NXT is a strong favorite to win total viewership but AEW can win the demo if they put on a strong card.

I'd be surprised if NXT didn't win because it's on its regular timeslot and day while Dynamite isn't. TV viewers are creatures of habit after all. Though both are also competing against postseason baseball, so that's going to likely kick both their butts.
Still think it's funny how much they're stacking this show with special guests, though. I get making it a special show due to circumstances, but this is overkill lol.

As an aside, the Cody announcement has to be the return of the Dusty Classic, right? I think anything else would be out of place on that show. If it isn't I'd be surprised. There's a chance he could be hyping up talent and he might say something about showing up every once in a while. He was hyping up Melo not that long ago.

So, after years of calling NXT "Hip Toss Class", he's being brought in to boost ratings against the company he helped build. I find that funny. Well, it sure isn't running the goddamn ropes class...

Edge’s debut match was saved for the night they went up against NXT, were they not supposed to do anything about that? Well that's not so much them going up against NXT but being forced off their normal night. They'll probably load up the following week as they're of that Wednesday as well.

I wonder at this rate, what will it take for Roman to work NXT.
I know it HAS to be in the back of the minds of someone in creative.
Give one NXT superstar the title match of their life, the Undisputed Title.

Yeah that’s the part that I just think makes the WWE risk looking really If they had just treated it like any other weekly NXT then there’s a 50/50 chance they win anyway since as someone else said viewers are creatures of habit and hey if they lost? It’s one week, not going to change anything and that line about AEW beating their developmental tv show big whoop is actually mostly true. Now by booking Cena etc. they’ve acknowledged they they consider AEW some form of competition and it’s either a case where they win and if they do, well man they got Hollywood stars on the show of course they did and if they lose? You got Hollywood stars on and still couldn’t win
