As a kid I thought the Alliance was gonna win at Survivor Series and then the program would continue with WCW branding until Mania, where the WWF would win everything back. I knew there was a chance WWF would straight up win, but I never expected the result to be "WWF wins and we never ever speak of this again please look Austin is cool again and Angle is such a nerd haha". That post-Survivor Series Raw had my teen self confused. It made the Invasion angle feel like a big waste of time in some alternate universe.

In 1998, I was just starting to understand the behind the scenes part of wrestling. I could see how the stories developed and such. I just knew with Shawn Michaels out, there was one man who could face Steve Austin in a big WWF Title Match at Summerslam: Kurrgan.

As a kid, I thought Doink was going to be revealed to be Ax from Demolition. It was how much Bobby Heenan hammered in that “those eyes looked familiar” as well as his feud with Crush. I thought it was going to end up being some sort of grudge over Crush taking his spot, and that there was going to be some sort of metaphor involved with him dressing like a clown. In 5th Grade, I remember a kid theorizing that Doink was either Smash or Repo Man (I can't remember which, it's been so long).

"You know, fair play giving EVIL the rub, if ticket sales are f***ed anyway, might as well try and experiment and see how things go"... Boy I was not prepared for how that one ended up. House of Torture's just been terrible for everyone involved. Sho is now a chickenshit heel who makes goofy-ass faces and most of his matches, like with the other members, consist of constant interference and cheating like he's forgotten how to wrestle. I think he has forgotten how to wrestle.
I don't think Yujiro has ever knew how to wrestle.

I thought the Funkasaurus gimmick was money. Ha! I mean it kinda was? They made a lot of wrestling buddies and the like of him. It's a gimmick that basically provided job security as the comedy face that pops the crowd almost never get fired. I mean he was never going to be a main eventer with the gimmick but he was never going to be a main eventer under any gimmick... Which everyone but him seemed to realize.

Never considered that he might have been Repo Man though. Seems far fetched.

I thought Mr. Kennedy/Mr. Anderson would be one of the biggest stars in the industry. Basically up there with Cena/Orton/Batista. Oh, hey, me too. I was one of the idiots who was pegging Kennedy as the 'next Austin.' Christ

I legit thought Byron Saxton had a ton of potential for some reason. Was my favorite guy in NXT Season 4 and thought he was a future World champion
I uhh...have no idea why the hell I thought that

I thought of one that I totally missed on. I thought that Vince Russo and Ed Ferrara were going to help WCW get back on track in their ratings battle with the WWE, boy was I wrong.

I thought of one that I totally missed on. I thought that Vince Russo and Ed Ferrara were going to help WCW get back on track in their ratings battle with the WWE, boy was I wrong. Almost everybody thought that at the time. We genuinely believed that Russo was the creative genius who snatched back the lead in the Monday Night Wars with his brilliant writing, and that he'd put WCW back on top straightaway. Even the people who didn't think it was going to be a game-changer didn't realize what buffoons Russo and Ferrara were going to turn out to be without someone keeping them in check.

I just knew with Shawn Michaels out, there was one man who could face Steve Austin in a big WWF Title Match at Summerslam: Kurrgan. This is like my thought in 1992 that the Warlord was a dark horse to win the Royal Rumble and thus, the WWF Title. LOL

I honestly thought Damien Sandow was gonna do decently in Impact. Turns out, that run pretty much left a permanent black eye on his career.
I was expecting the awfulness that was The Authority to end at either WM30 or Survivor Series 2014. Instead, we got almost two more years of the worst stable and one of WWE's worst storylines.
I also thought Impact was gonna shut down in the mid-2010s. They're still alive.
Finally, I once said to myself, "There's no way Tyrus is gonna win the NWA Title. He's past his prime and not over!". Guess the monkey's paw curled into a spiral for that one!

That Dean and Roman were going to be the golden boys post-shield and Seth would just completely fade away.
And I think a lot of us felt that, the way the shield was booked. Dean was the strongest with the US title. Roman was the powerhouse where EVERYONE saw he was gonna be the next one, also due to lineage.
And Seth was Seth.
So I'm really glad WWE made Seth the one to turn on them, so he had the most momentum after the breakup.

For some reason I was really certain Austin would be the legend that faced Jericho at WM25.
I also was really hopeful the WHC match at WM27 would be Edge vs. Christian after Edge won the title in December and did the Killswitch at the Rumble, and was *very* baffled when Del Rio won.

I was certain that John Cena would face the Undertaker in Hell in a Cell to replace Shane... up until the bell rang.

I was legitimately excited to see heel Becky Lynch vs face Charlotte Flair.
