I get that he's found more of a groove character wise and is connecting more with the audience, but I don't think anyone has spun their wheels more than Daniel Garcia in the last year. I'm really hoping 2024 is a big year for him.

I think they know what they have with Garcia, there just hasn't been an obvious spot for him, the fact he's going to face MJF despite not really doing much shows how highly they think of him, that's the downside of an absolutely loaded roster.
But yeah, great match, Trent is one of their most underrated guys, never delivers anything less than an entertaining match and quite often delivers a banger when you're not necessarily expecting it, still hoping for a Best Friends title reign down the line.

I think I am kind of glad Garcia didn't leave JAS when he initially looked poised to, since while it was a strange move at the time, I am not sure that he would have been ready yet. His act has definitely matured and improved since then.

He's 25, and up until he started with AEW he was basically just "serious wrestler guy".
He's got plenty of time to grow, and they're developing him gradually. I don't think that's a problem.

Garcia is good because he gets the smaller things at a much earlier stage of his career than most wrestlers do. Like he knows to slow it down, not in a hhh forced epic way but showing some struggle to hit a move rather than rushing to hit it and move to the highspot.
And I want best friends to win the tag or trios titles next year.

His act has definitely matured and improved since then. I think the exact kind of guy he's been in JAS, where he's the incredibly gifted wrestleguy but with a personality and a comedic bent to go with it, is the ideal form for him. Letting him spread his wings and do that instead of having to be Death Jutsu Guy taking falls for Claudio and Moxley just fits him a lot better and gives him way more identity. His dancing is over, and seeing him f***ing around in stuff even pre-AEW, I think that's the right angle for him to get his personality out. I think they knew what they had and that having him learn under Jericho would bring that side of him out a lot better.
