In the latest installment of "Shohei Ohtani's really not helping his cause," today's planned press conference will instead be Ohtani reading a prepared statement and not taking any questions from the media, according to ESPN's Alden Gonzalez. It’ll read like a legal hostage statement. You’d hope that this is the final official version of what they want us to believe happened.

He’s talking now and his former translator better be wearing a hard hat and he’s been thrown under the bus.

I wonder now if Ippei actually would do a "defamation of character" lawsuit or something, just so his name doesn't get thrown under the bus even worse.

Maybe this happens in America but it certainly happens here in Ireland, but when I buy something I will be asked to go to my banks app and approve the purchase. That’s a good security feature. Are we to believe that his bank didn’t flag this with him when there are $500,000 wire transfers ? And who else has access to his account ? This hasn’t done what I think Ohtani and his team think it’s done. I’ve more questions now then I had before.

Now I know what it was like for non-Patriots fans watching Tom Brady's Deflategate press conference. All we need now is Mark Brunell sobbing on ESPN.

It's amazing to go onto social media and to see so many people all of a sudden hating Ohtani and automatically saying he's guilty and wanting him to be banned for life starting yesterday. It's ALMOST as if people hate Ohtani all of a sudden simply because he's with the Dodgers now.

I know people want Ohtani involved because it would make a better story, but the idea is he would have the one guy who can expose him fired and investigated by authorities? Therefore ensuring he is caught? Huh?

Apparently this guy pretty much did everything for him, including having access to his finances where that wouldn't be necessary.
People have described Ohtani as a baseball genius but a real idiot about everything else and that tracks with this situation. I think more needs to come out with the investigation before coming to any sort of conclusion

The 2024 Red Sox have two recipients of the Justin Thomas Award for "Players I'd Never Heard of Before Opening Day" in Isaiah Campbell and Greg Weissert.

Isaiah Campbell is the Portuguse-born reliever the Mariners trotted out last mid season to log some low leverage situations, and hopefully he'll do the same in the Red Sox. Also, Boston trying to get the Portuguese community in Newark to come to their teams' games, between this and Neemias Queta in the Celtics.

MLB's investigation into Ohtani is probably likely as thorugh as NBA's investigation of Jordan back in his gambling days

If I was Snell, Montgomery, etc, I'd be looking for a new agent. Boras whiffed hard this offseason.

I would assume Monty got at least $80M offer over like 4 years like E-Rod did from AZ and Boras was like oh yeah my guy worth at least $30M more and struck out on that Why would you be greedy in a market that was shakey due to teams being uncertain about the TV deal

So the remaining Starting Pitchers MAYBE worth a damn out there for teams in need of one are:
- Mike Clevinger - Johnny Cueto - Dallas Keuchel - Rich Hill - Vince Velasquez - Zack Greinke - Corey Kluber - Travor May
A lot of these names might just be washed and on their way out but I could see plenty of them at least getting a shot if arms start to fall. Kinda shocked Clevinger hasn't been picked up
