If I was Snell, Montgomery, etc, I'd be looking for a new agent. Boras whiffed hard this offseason. According to Yahoo Sports, Boras' "big four" of Blake Snell, Cody Bellinger, Matt Chapman, and Jordan Montgomery were seeking a combined $790 million. They signed for a combined $221 million. I think this past off-season will be remembered as the one where the tide started to turn against Scott Boras. I wouldn't be surprised if upcoming free agents see how much of a fiasco this past winter was for Boras clients and wonder if they could find better representation elsewhere.

I think the surprising thing is that Boras didn't sense that he'd overplayed his hand on at least one of these guys and adjust accordingly. He's considered one of, if not THE the shrewdest agents in Sports and he got absolutely taken to school

If I'm Montgomery I'm pretty f***ing livid. He didn't get the deal he wanted, waited so long to get it and then didn't anyway, and now he's gonna miss maybe the first month of the year revving up his arm and cardio, because he missed all of Spring Training, because he's been sitting, waiting for a big deal, and didn't get it.
It couldn't have gone worse for Boras and given how much he's tried to get the shrewdest deal I guess it's about time the league caught up to him.

It couldn't have gone worse for Boras and given how much he's tried to get the shrewdest deal I guess it's about time the league caught up to him. I just think Boras' time as the pre-eminent agent in baseball has come and gone. He made a name for himself in the 80s and 90s as the representative of most of the top picks in the amateur draft, but he truly became a king-maker with Alex Rodriguez's then-eye-popping $252 million contract in 2000. Like, it cannot be overstated enough how massive and game-changing that contract was for the game of baseball. It was the biggest contract in all of pro sports by $125 million. It was worth more than owners had recently paid for entire teams. But aside from a few outliers (Kris Bryant, Xander Bogaerts, Brandon Nimmo, Marcus Semien, Corey Seager), his last few years have been littered with short-term, reasonably-priced contracts, not those headline-making contracts that he was known for.

We are just a few short hours away. Let’s go. The Red Sox starting at 10 p.m. Eastern (and them expected to suck in 2024) really takes a lot of the fun out of Opening Day.

MLB Network is now on Hulu Live!
Dropped cable a few weeks ago, and got Hulu, this is freaking awesome. My cable company had dropped MLB Network a few years ago, and from what I've heard it wasn't exactly a popular move. So the only place to get MLB Network was satellite, and I ain't paying those prices. So freaking glad it's on Hulu Live.

Nestor is throwing garbage and the Yanks have 2 GIDP in the first 2 innings. This thread is going to be fun.

I'd like to fire off my customary f*** Brian Cashman post for Opening Day.
Despite the offense upgrade, the same result thus far and the pitching is atrocious with little coming in the way of reinforcements. But, nah, Cashman is a great GM and can hold on to the job as long as he wants.

I would give anything if Mo and DeWitt would actually shell out for good pitchers. Yeah they got Grey but the Cards needed more than him to fix this rotation. Lynn and Gibson do not give me hope.

Gotta love us Yankees fans. Also, 3 inning-ending DP in 4 innings.

Took about 20 minutes but the Angels are dead, lol They had the new Orioles owner in the broadcast booth during the second inning and he jokingly asked if there’s a mercy rule in baseball. That was just in the second inning, lord knows they could really use it now! Trout hit the first homerun of the season early and they haven’t done shit since.

Javi Baez is such a bum, and not in the endearing Eddie Kingston way.

Yankees tie it with a solo shot by Oswaldo Cabrera. Cool.
