Rampage did even worse if that counts for anything, I guess.

I wonder how much impact the Punk drama had on Collision launching with its half-baked identity, running the way it did under Punk, and then getting compeltely derailed with a sudden pivot away entirely from that under a whole lot of ugly clouds. Feels like the concept of Collision itself is sort of running behind on value when it's not billing something big enough to draw the extra eyes.

Because most Punk fans probably stopped watching from butthurt and FTR isnt exactly on good graces with non-punk fans.

Honestly, I don't think this performance is directly attributable to Punk, FTR or even like anyone else in AEW. Saturday Night is just a weird f***ing night to try a wrestling show. They are faced with a lot of competition at many points throughout the year. There's probably a discussion to be had about moving it to another night one day, but who knows.

I doubt it's anythign as specific as actually being some kind of broad rift in the fanbase. I think Collision as a show just really blew it by going all in on Punk only to lose him so shortly after. The blow-up was a turnoff and now it's stuck without a whole lot of direction to take its place.

Bama/LSU, USC/Washington, and Michigan (who gets the most views of any college program) were all playing at the same time as Collision and those were on CBS, ABC, and NBC. Now not saying the number isn't bad as it is. But as college football got into rivalries it was always gonna take a hit. This weekend they have Ohio State, Texas, and LSU vs Florida to compete against though those will all likely be blowouts so may not be as bad

A weekly wrestling show on Saturday night is never going to work in 2023, no matter what company you are. It just isn't. The TV landscape is so insanely different than it was 20-25 years ago.

Yeah, in the event that WWE's TV schedule changes given their shows moving channels/platforms, AEW and WB would be very smart to look into getting Collision on just about any other night that opens up. Friday night is difficult enough to hold an audience for with Rampage, having Saturdays, too (and in prime time for Saturday) is just clearly not a great night. Sucks, because post-Punk Collision's been a good show, but show quality only influences so much, by the look of things, especially when your competition is only getting tougher as college football season gets into rivalry modes.

Yea this was never going to be some ratings juggernaut, it's on Saturday where the demo they want is either watching football or going out...the best you'll get is someone watching it a few days later.

I maintain a Saturday night show was a terrible idea. They're basically hovering around "ok" ratings and dipping into terrible ones.

Really, really bad number. There's just too much TV for the average person to keep up with. The only way a show like this works is with a roster split, which they sort of had when Punk was operating with the rest of the Colliders. Now it's just like the rest of AEW television, but the 4th and 5th hour of the week.
The impact this has on the potential TV deal is interesting, especially with Dave mentioning WBD as players for RAW on today's WOR.

Rampage did a 0.11 which was up from the 0.09 of the previous show.

I meant in terms of viewers, it did 298,000.

Yeah, obviously the night of the week, competition, quality of the show etc all play a part but imo the main factor is there's way too many hours to keep up with. Especially when a large chunk of your audience watch other promotions too.

Yeah I don't think Punk made a difference, the timeslot does. It's in a weird spot for the 2023 viewer who is usually entrenched in watching College Football on a Saturday Night or doing a lot of other things because it's Saturday Night
I imagine Collision sees a lot of DVR numbers just like Rampage, but there needs to be more incentive to watch live. Getting more acts on TV hasn't been a bad thing, they've been giving us good banger matches, but in some instances I think they need to experiment with this brand more then they are to make the feel different from Dynamite. They've done a few things but they need to do more I think for the numbers to go up
That or eventually change timeslots, keeping a close eye on where WWE shows might move day and time wise.

It’ll be a shame when Collision gets canceled, both for the annoying narrative it’ll create and the fact that it has been a very solid show since Punk left.
A Saturday night wrestling show was a good idea in principle insofar as AEW is WCW’s spiritual successor, but it’s just a putrid night to try and run a 2 hour live wrestling show in 2023.

I guess Saturday night is NOT alright for fighting?
Shame, because whenever I catch collision, it ends up being a entertaining show. and since Crown Jewel was the same day, maybe people just got their wrestling fill for the day
