Tv in my bedroom broke, wanted a bigger screen, didn’t want the hassle to buy and bring home a giant tv, so I found a decent priced projector. I gotta say, watching on 100in screen makes watching anime a lot more fun, and it’s made me want to watch movies.
I actually cleared a lot of movies on my Netflix queue and watched a bunch of movies I’ve heard about over the years but never saw. Or old movies from when I was younger that I never finished. I missed a lot. Usually because the 2000s is when the movie theatre tix prices started getting higher and higher and I didn’t want to go to the movie theatre by myself unless the movie was must see like Batman or a marvel movie.
So what’s a good movie that I should try? There’s a lot of movies in the pop culture zeitgeist I know of but haven’t seen.
So far I’ve seen over the summer:
Lord of the rings 3 Lego movie 1 and 2 Lego Batman Mean girls Kickass 1 (saw 2 on cable) Shriek 4 Scott pilgrim Mib 3 and international Thor 4 Black panther 2 Star Wars 1-3 (or 4-6 if you want to nit pick) Mortal kombat Weird Al movie Knives out 1 and 2 Super Mario movie Borat The dictator
What would you say is a movie from 2001 on that someone in their late 30s/early 40s should have seen by now?
Currently, I see that pitch perfect is leaving Netflix. Would you say that’s worth a watch? I know there’s three of them, so the first has to be good right?

Based on that list, with a few of my own recommendations I'd suggest:
• Blade II • The Bourne Identity • The Bourne Supremacy • The Bourne Ultimatum • Shaun of the Dead • Hot Fuzz • Collateral • Man on Fire • Sunshine • Dredd • Oblivion • Pacific Rim • Edge of Tomorrow (aka Live Die Repeat) • Mad Max: Fury Road • The Martian • Bullet Train • Jojo Rabbit • Greenland • Jumanji 2-3 • John Wick 1-4 • Mission: Impossible 3-6

I'm not big on the 'big Hollywood' productions, I like smaller, indy-alligned movies... and I'm more into the horror and sci-fi weirdness... so I recommend:
Bubba Ho-Tep The Guest Upgrade The Sacrament Get Out Us John Dies At The End V/H/S 1 & 2 Purge: Anarchy Southbound Ong-Bak The Raid 1 & 2 Attack The Block

Look By director Adam Rifkin. It's a found footage style film, where all the scenes are shot from security cameras or where a security camera could feasibly be. The ending is {Spoiler}A total gut punch but that's what makes it stick out in my mind. Great movie I've never heard anyone discuss, besides Penn Jillette, so check it out.

A Knight's Tale is one of those movies that feels like, at any given moment, it will be on a TV channel. I have issues with it, but I get why this is: it has a lot of approachability and seems to have something for most audiences. It's not a hard movie to get something out of.

Nobody needs to see it, it's not bad. It's not great. It just is. You won't miss out on any part of life by not seeing it. I saw it in theatre. I've always been disturbed by them singing We Will Rock You like 200 years before it was written, but that's me.

That's one of my things I don't like about it, the jukebox musical aspect it dips its toes in. It's very broad appeal as a whole, though, so it's probably worth checking out if someone thinks it's interesting looking.

It's a perfectly fine movie to watch.

The classic rock soundtrack, as well as the great chemistry between the cast members, is what makes A Knight's Tale something special and worth watching. Without them then you're just left with a rather garden variety coming of age story that just happens to take place in the Middle Ages.
