Randy Macho Man Savage Macho Man Randy Savage
Bret The Hitman Hart Hitman Bret Hart
Any other examples? I'm sure there's more, but I don't want to spend too much time trying to remember all of them.

It depends on the wrestler and the nickname which sounds better, but I think it's often fun when it's in the middle.

Depends on how it sounds. “Macho Man” sounds better before “Randy Savage.” “The Hitman” sounds better in between “Bret Hart.”

Depends on how it sounds. “Macho Man” sounds better before “Randy Savage.” “The Hitman” sounds better in between “Bret Hart.” In my head I can hear Howard Finkel saying both the nickname/name and name/nickname/name for Savage. Did he switch it up, or am I just remembering incorrectly? As it is, I agree with the above assessment.

'The Model' Rick Martel Rick 'The Model' Martel
Jim 'The Anvil' Neidhart 'The Anvil' Jim Neidhart
Jimmy 'Superfly' Snuka 'Superfly' Jimmy Snuka
The announcers/commentators seemed to use both for these guys.

Warrior The Ultimate Hulk "Hollywood" Hogan Dallas "Diamond" Page Brutus "The Barber" Beefcake sounds better and is fun to say. Lord Alfred Hayes used to irritate me by always putting "The Barber" at the front.

It's a curious thing how some don't work, I wonder if its because of the stresses, some nicknames seem to work a lot better with a strong trochee. 'Macho Man' works great at the start, but with 'The Hitman' it's a bit clunky and less of an emphasis on the 'hit', whereas stick that in the middle and you get Bret the Hitman Hart.

Becky "The Man" Lynch would make her sound too much like "Manwich".

It is all about the alliteration. If anyone ever said "The Snake" Jake Roberts, I'd advocate violence against same. Same with "Rowdy" Roddy Piper or "The Immortal" Hulk Hogan. Others work just fine either way, Bret Hart and Randy Savage come to mind.
