As previously mentioned, I’ve been enjoying watching YouTube “video essays” and “deep dives” and “rise and fal documentaries”.
But damn, I think 15-20 minutes is the sweet spot, maybe the 40 minute ones if it’s a collection of different stories.
But when I see something almost daily about “the sad truth about” and it’s 1h 40 + and I’m like “nah”.
Some of them I’ve seen for like 4 hours!

It really depends. I’ve watched Totally Not Mark’s DBZ review 4-5 times now and that things like 9 hours across 5 videos. My mood, the subject, how much time I have, etc. all factor in to how long a video I’m willing to watch at that time.

Yeah, it depends. If the video is 5 hours long but it's a topic I'm really interested in and the video creator is really smart, funny, etc. I'll break it up over time, but I'll still watch the whole thing.

It really depends, I'd prefer for them to be 15 to 30 minutes long, but if it is something like StarTalk or one of Simon Whistler's approximately 500 channels, I'll watch/listen regardless of length if it interests me. Honestly, I could probably listen to Neil DeGrasse Tyson read the phone book and be interested. He is so damn good at breaking down scientific concepts for my small, smooth brain.

I prefer longer stuff. If anything something being short is more of a turnoff, don't usually see much point in bothering with a two minute video, especially since I almost entirely watch on my TV.

Depends on the topic but 2 hours is usually my absolute limit, and even then I have to set aside time for it like anything else. I have OCD and one of my rituals is that I have to finish something once I've started it and leaving a movie or video half finished is genuinely mentally upsetting for me.

I'm a multi-tasker, and I'm not a fan of staring at my phone for too long, so I always enjoy a good video that is mostly focused on illustrating themselves through the audio...so if I can get a video that is 45 minutes to an hour, that's usually the sweet spot.

I have youtube on a lot when I work. I'll listen to deep dive type videos about movies/books/games I like or are interested in. But every once in a while I stumble across something so overly long I just say "no thanks" out of principle.
I recall a video about "The bloat of the Hobbit movies" that came on automatically. I listened for a while but the voices started to get irritating. When I tabbed over to it I noticed it was almost 10 hours long. 10 HOURS OF PEOPLE BITCHING ABOUT THE HOBBIT MOVIES BEING BLOATED. Come on! Look in the goddamn mirror.

It depends. Like others have said, I watch/listen to videos while working and with my ADHD, I usually come and go from them as I please.
The longest I've watched is a near 8-hour analysis on the game Who's Lila.

Usually short ones--around the 10-15 minute mark.
A bit longer if it's content which 1 - I know will be and 2 - will warrant the extra time, like Defunctland's videos. So many YouTuber's just seem focussed on padding what should be a 10 minute video to 30 minutes plus by waffling on and repeating themselves and going on meaningless diversions.

Honestly anything over a half hour is a bit much and only a half hour if it's something I've fascinated in. I blame my short attention span on this.

If something looks like it's going to be a deep dive (ie, over 30 minutes), I usually put it in watch later and watch it in chunks that way, unless it's a tv episode, which I do try to watch in one sitting.

or one of Simon Whistler's approximately 500 channels, I find him hit or miss depending on the channel, his more professional channels can be good and I'll sit and watch those but his stuff like the former business blaze (now "something" blaze) I tend to think he comes across as a bit of an arse in them a lot of the time. I used to watch his top tenz.net videos daily but noticed how watered down they started getting the more channels he started, I mean they went from more in depth lists to here's the entry on the list a couple of lines about it now here's the next entry on the list. then that just vanished for like a year (not the time he got hacked by a gambling scammer who stole the channel and deleted/hid all his old videos for the channel.) I think they tried to relaunch it a month or two ago with a new host but only saw one video for it. I can't fault him for the amount of video channels he's started as it's a good way to earn money if each one has sponsors for every video (even if it's a multi video deal.) as for youtube videos length, it depends on what subject it's on and if I find the host/talking head annoying or not.

Yeah not all of his videos are gold but I absolutely love the casual criminalist and into the shadows. Business blaze got rebranded as brain blaze.

5-15 minutes, sometimes longer if the content really interests me.
Most of the time, within 5 minutes I either have enough information to satisfy me, or that the subject doesn't interest me enough to invest further time.

I tend to not venture outside of Megaprojects, Biographics, and Science Unbound. If there's an interesting Sideprojects video I'll check it out, but the longer stuff, particularly ones where Simon's going in blind with the script I generally avoid due to his proclivity to waffle and go on tangents.

I watch Critical Role on YouTube, with some episodes going to 6 hours or more. As long as the content is interesting enough, I'll watch.

20-ish minutes is my max. I’ve noticed all of the hour+ videos I’ve added over the years are still in my “watch later”.

Looking over my subscriptions, I skew towards videos in the 30-40 minute range. I watch a lot of woodcrafting, metalworking, and art restoration videos, plus ASMR videos when I'm going to sleep.
