Watching Todd in the Shadows’s “One Hit Wonderland” YouTube series has made me check out and enjoy the discographies of tons of one-hit wonders, and I usually have at least one other song of theirs which I really like. Some examples: Modern English (known for “I Melt With You”): “Someone’s Calling” Men Without Hats (known for “The Safety Dance”): “Pop Goes the World” (which was a big hit in their native Canada, but not where I live in the US) The Buggles (known for “Video Killed the Radio Star”): “Elstree” (I also looked up and enjoyed the Bruce Woolley version of “Video Killed the Radio Star”) A Flock of Seagulls (known for “I Ran (So Far Away)”): “Wishing (If I Had a Photograph of You)” Harvey Danger (known for “Flagpole Sitta”): “Private Helicopter” Thomas Dolby (known for “She Blinded Me With Science”): “Europa and the Pirate Twins” I also have become a huge fan of the entire discography of Midnight Oil, who are huge stars in their native Australia but had only one big US hit in the 80’s (“Beds Are Burning”) I have done the exact thing. Shout out to Automatic Man by Michael Simbello, which is so terrible it rules

“Diesel and Dust” is a great album, but my favorite album of theirs is probably “10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1.” Meanwhile, probably my favorite individual song is “Blue Sky Mine.” "Short Memory" gets me every time Their recent single Gadigal Land is f***ing excellent too

Crash Test Dummies is a really talented band that has put out 8 above average to good albums spanning multiple genres and influences over the last 30+ years, but will forever be remembered for and judged by their absolute worst song. Songs like How Does A Duck Know? and Keep a Lid on Things are really good songs, for example. Here in the United States I think Silverchair is pretty much only known for Tomorrow, but their entire discography is good and I'm not sure I'd put Tomorrow in their Top 5 songs. Ana's Song (Opem Fire) was a pretty decent hit

The Box Tops are pretty much only remembered for the song "The Letter" and maybe "Cry Like a Baby," but "Neon Rainbow" and "Soul Deep" are good, too.
Also, the lead singer went on to front a very underrated band called Big Star that never had any major hits but were quite ahead of their time. I discovered their song "September Gurls" on a '70s playlist on Spotify, and I immediately thought "Who put this '90s alternative song on here?" but it's from 1974.

I’m always fascinated how non-Australians talk about bands and songs that are radio staples here like they’re these amazing deep cuts. Barely scratched the surface, like.

Big Star are hugely respected in muso circles these days - if you've not investigated further, then I'd advise doing 'Third/Sister Lover' last, because it gets REAL WEIRD compared to the first two records, but all three are generally considered masterpieces nowadays

Songs like How Does A Duck Know? and Keep a Lid on Things are really good songs, for example. Here in the United States I think Silverchair is pretty much only known for Tomorrow, but their entire discography is good and I'm not sure I'd put Tomorrow in their Top 5 songs. Straight Lines is super elegant, and I love Ana’s Song (Open Fire).

Todd In The Shadow's episode on I Ran introduced me to A Flock Of Seagulls follow up single Space Age Love Song.
Even better than I Ran, and one of the best songs of the 80's.
Harvey Danger's cover of Save It For Later was really good too.

Cold Chisel is one of my favorite bands. 97% of my fellow Americans have no idea who that is. So it's fun playing them "Flame Trees" or "Standing on the Outside" and watching their jaws drop. "This is awesome! Where did you find this?" Australian classic hits stations on TuneIn, my guy. See how far the musical rabbit hole goes.
