Remember when he was profiled by The Washington Post in 2017 and was jovial laughing as Dominic Denucci calling a former President a hard-r racial slur? That was the moment I was done with him forever. It doesn't help that he starred in the absolute most unwatchable "film" in the Troma library. I actually didn't remember this so I went and looked up what was said both there and in the rest of the article. I didn't completely hate Shane Douglas before, I thought he was a not terrible wrestler and he came across better than I expected in the shoot interviews I saw, and I didn't think it was fair that people judged him for the Target thing. Then I read that, and just any shred of respect I might have previously had for him went out the window. It bends my mind how a man as educated as he is could be so stupid.

Douglas is probably my biggest "I just do NOT see it" guy.
So....even if he wasn't broken down and guilty of dry humping ECWs corpse, it's a hard no

I could see him coming in as a manager, with a stable of guys called "The Franchise Players"
With QT Marshall we need a low card heel stable with the potential of actually moving up the card
Edit: This post made me actually look up Shane Douglass recent takes, and I'm not at all surprised

Even when he could still actually go, the best you'd get is Great Value Triple H.

Is AEW starting an old,fat and bitter division? If they were, Shane would be the Franchise Player.

I wouldn’t want a Shane Douglas run if it was 2003 and he was still semi-capable in the ring, let alone 20 years later where his relevance has all but expired. He wasn't even that in 2003, I remember him in TNA that year and he was throwing up in his match against Raven. No way way I want to see him in 2023 wrestling. I saw some of his random indie matches he had in more recent years and its just sad to watch. No way I would ever want that on TV.

Surprised he didn't turn up during the fever dream that was late 2019 AEW and the AEW Championship Committee.
Kinda amazing to see how much has changed in the last 4 years, except maybe the presentation of the women. That still leaves as much to be desired as October 2019.

I'd welcome him in exchange for Ric Flair leaving
then we exchange Shane Douglas for somebody better straight away

At least we know he could manage a Target. How does this only have 7 likes?

I feel like if I was Tony Khan, I would give some random-ass people an onscreen match or two, like do a lumberjack matches where guys like Warlord and Barbarian showed up, but even I am having trouble thinking of what the hell Shane would do in such a circumstance. He's not a funny appearance, he's just tedious.

As someone who recently watched Slammiversary 2009 where Christopher Daniels faces Shane Douglas wheezing in an Under Armour shirt looking like he's holding hands with The Grim Reaper, I am conflicted I was there live it was awful. Everything was awful.
