"We're about to play the greatest video game ever."
You damn right!
That was just James playing and reminiscing. Great video.

That was nice and comfy with a cameo beat down. Classic.

This is still my favourite Final Fantasy, though I haven't really played beyond 12. Final Fantasy 6 though was a masterpiece. It pushed the SNES to the limits, I remember my friend and I being absolutely blown away by the FMV where we first approached the empire. Now it looks terrible but in the day it was state of the art graphics beyond anything we'd ever seen. So many fantastic characters all fleshed out, no direct protagonist (at the time pretty much unheard of. Right up there with being to make a party without Chrono in Chrono Trigger).
I bought the PS one port back in the day and stupidly left it with a friend years ago. I'm pretty sure he sold all my PS1 stuff sadly. I do still have a rom that I can play of the SNES version. Either way, this is a fantastic game and fans of the genre should really play it through at some point. I wish it got as much love as 7 does. I get that 7 was what truly made the series a juggernaut, but 6, 6 was special in a way that can probably never be recreated.

I haven’t played through it in probably 20+ years, but FF VI is right up there with Chrono Trigger for me. Chrono Trigger is my zen game, I play it whenever I feel depressed or stressed or just off. But I have some amazing memories of playing through FF VI in the late 90’s

This one rests comfortably as the very best in the franchise IMO

I perfer Chrono Trigger and FF 2 aka FF 4 There’s only a handful of games I’ve played through start to finish as many times as Chrono Trigger. And they’re probably all Zelda. Oh and Mega Man X, that might be the game I’ve beaten the most times. Moral of the story is Chrono Trigger is f***ing brilliant and one of my favourite games of all time. I get shivers when I hear the title screen music, and the millennial Fair music just immediately relaxes me. There is a very realistic chance I’m still alive because of that game, it’s certainly helped me in my lowest moments.

What a story.
In 1995, AVGN comes super close to beating and seeing the final scene of Final Fantasy III (aka Final Fantasy VI), only for the game to freeze up and not play.
28 years later, he tries to finally beat the game and get the ending (and hooks up the SNES to battery back up in case there was a power outage) only for “Santa Claus” to stop him from doing so. He plays it again and finally gets his wish.
Now, I know that the blackout and Santa part was all staged but wow! i wonder if this did happen on real life (minus the Santa part of course) and he finally beat the game just prior to XMas 2023.

Finally completed it this year for the first time (the pixel remaster version) and it really is amazing. My personal favourite is IX but if I had to pick an objective best in the series, I'd go with VI.

I loved the entire SNES trilogy of Final Fantasy IV-VI. Even with V not being as strong in story and characters as IV and VI has the wonderful job system to play around with. I'm a big fan of the series and only XIV has gotten on their level for me since.

I've never actually beaten a Final Fantasy. I've played a good few of them but I just never seem to stick with them until the end. Have beaten Bravely Default and Chrono Trigger and they're kind of adjacent (and Kingdom Hearts I guess) but core series I've never seen one all the way through.

Probably the game that I’ve played more than any other game over the years.

Wonder if he would do a Final Fantasy VII video Probably not. He said before that he didn't have a PS1 growing up, he clearly isn't as into RPGs as other genres so if he made a video about FF7 it would be something really by the numbers without much of anything behind.
