Great technical brawl. I’d also recommend the Gatti/Ward trilogy, JC Chavez vs. Pernell Whitaker, or Barrera vs. Prince Naseem Hamed.

That trilogy is probably the best I've seen the last 25 years. All very close fights, neither man gave an inch. The perfect feud; two distinctly different backgrounds and genuine dislike between the two. How you hope to draw up a wrestling feud.

Never really hear his name much anymore but he was legit.

This fight was before my birth, but I watched it on many an occasion.
I'd have to question Hearns strategy in brawling with a guy who had one of the greatest chins in the history of the sport. While Hearns managed to stagger Hagler a couple of times in the first round, dude apparently broke his right hand in the process, and that pretty much ended any hope of a win for him. Considering height and reach advantage, I'd think that Tommy would've had a shot at outboxing Hagler if anything.

I wish I could get back into boxing. When I was a kid, there was so much talent in so many divisions!

This is insane, honestly the punishment both guys took in round one I think would put anybody down.
I remember Hagler uaed to do his conditioning training wearing work boots and running up and down the sand dunes in Provincetown all day every day

It does say a lot that, nearly 40 years later, people in boxing still call a non-stop bombfest of a round as a 'Hagler-Hearns'.
That Four Kings era left a huge mark.
