I could see them having some really entertaining matches too. Warrior showed us at WM7 that he could be a master of the theatrics of wrestling, and paired with Jake being the most charismatically evil character in wrestling to date, it had great potential. It could also have really sucked.

I know people argue that Warrior was awful, but he was efficient enough, never really blowing a ton of spots, but he was effective. Obviously he had a lot of squash matches, but it wasn't because he couldn't work, it was to show he was a force to be reckoned with, so in those matches where he wasn't squashing the guy, it built tension as to whether or not he would get the job done. Honestly, unless they put some kind of gimmick around the match, I have no doubt he and Jake would go out there and have an entertaining set of matches.

Warrior is my favorite gimmick of all time and Jake Roberts is my all-time favorite heel, but I just do not see their styles meshing.
I think they’d have to go with some kind of gimmick match, but at least the promos would have been absolute gold.

Rude had the muscles and enough of a power arsenal to do physical stuff that looked like it could wear down/hurt Warrior, and he also could bump his ass off. Jake was more evasive, didn't bump a lot and had specific offensive moves that came into play later in matches. I'm not sure how believable it would be for Jake to work on Warrior for a long stretch unless he did something crazy early on, like nailed him with a chair. Their matches would probably be on the short side, with screwy finishes where Jake runs off rather than keep getting clotheslined and shoulder-tackled.

Jake’s promos would have probably been good as usual, Warriors would have either been entertaining or outright bad.
I’m trying to visualize what a Jake/Warrior match would look like and I just don’t see it ever being any good.

Makes me think of the Macho/Jake match from Tuesday in Texas: so much hype and build, but ultimately it wasn't really about the match itself, given that Savage won it quickly only for it to immediate go into the postmatch beatdown angle. Put Warrior in there and it probably has some kind of similar set-up: maybe Warrior beats Jake quick, but Jake does something to get his heat back right away (maybe even the cobra bite spot)?

How did they do Jake doing that to Warrior and not have a match between the two?

How did they do Jake doing that to Warrior and not have a match between the two? Jake was injured through the summer, which is why his feud with Earthquake ended abruptly. Then Warrior got fired before Jake could come back.

I could see Undertaker jumping Warrior before the match to soften him up for Jake.

The snake bite angle honestly seems much more suited to Warrior than Savage, but I don’t know if I see Warrior going along with it.

Yep, the WM7 career ending match wasn't great because of the wrestling. It was great because Warrior and Macho got together and choreographed an epic drama with a wrestling ring as their stage. In terms of wrestling, I don't think it had much beyond punching, clotheslines, and signature spots. The magic was in the theatre.

The match is so f***ing good there hasn’t been 33 years of bitching how Warrior pinned Savage with one foot, after dragging him back in the ring.

It is funny that Jake is there when Warrior comes back in 96 and they never acknowledged it. Jerry Lawler feuds with Jake right after the Warrior, that is the closest they have in that period in the "New Generation" period.

Jerry Lawler feuds with Jake right after the Warrior, that is the closest they have in that period in the "New Generation" period. The magazine did in fact acknowledge it. In one article called: “Cheer! Cheer! Cheer! The gang is all here”, they mentioned what Jake did to the Warrior. At the end, they asked that even though Jake changed his ways is that enough to satisfy the Warrior? Can he forgive and forget that easily?

Because we didn't get this, we got Roberts vs Savage which was a major upgrade. It's by favourite feud of all time.
