Heartbreaker for Detroit, but damn what a second half collapse. Shanahan and Purdy showed the world at least for one night that they’ve got it in them!
Super Bowl 54 rematch! Let’s see if Purdy can do what Garoppolo couldn’t.

Daley never doubted it for a minute. I remember at 24-10, he told me Purdy's legs and a bounce off a Lions DB's facemask were gonna win this game.

The Lions now have their heartbreaking loss that every snake bitten franchise has. What a shame.

Offside kicks this year were 2/41. I feel like the game is more interesting when there's at least like a 10% chance of success. They should try to make it more winnable. They need to do the one play for 15 yards for possession. Onside kick just wastes everyone’s time and gets people hurt. 🤷🏻♂️

I am fine with the 4th down calls and a lot of the mistakes for Detroit were dropped balls and turnovers. However, that 3rd down run at the end is just being too cute. I get that you might think you'll catch them off guard but it's on the 1 yard line. They were going to be ready at a high enough level that it's just not worth it. It probably barely changes the outcome as Detroit probably has to do a Hail Mary but it's still a bad call.

Also, the FGs would've been 45 & 47 yards. Not exactly gimmies, especially with a kicker who is pretty mediocre. He also saw that the Niners mostly figured out their defense and just kicking FGs might not be enough. Momentum and giving team unneeded chances is part of the game flow though. If it wasn't, nothing would've changed from when the Lions were up 24-7. Going for it when you're up 14 is seen as an insult even if going for a FG somehow isn't. You fail that, you give them an excuse tor ally around when dejected, and then they turn that into momentum. Maybe Badgley misses, but if he doesn't you're up 3 possessions and have added more momentum to your own side. It sounds like alchemy but you can see/feel it from following the game for ages.

if you don't drop that 4th down and an easy 3rd down catch you should make as a professional, you win the game. simple as that If they don't fumble immediately after the TD, the game feels like it would be different. God I forgot about that too. Sheesh

You could also argue that them not going for it and abandoning their philosophy of being aggressive(went for the 2nd most in the league, only trailing the Panthers. So really first because the Panthers were always behind) could cause them to panic and tighten up. Either way, I'm glad I'm not a coach and have to make these calls.

Well, NFL won’t be following in the footsteps of the other three leagues and crowning a first time champion. Potential Dynasty vs. five time champ on the way.

Also kudos to the two people who guessed the result of Super Bowl LVIII.

It just irritates me because by saying "we've done it all year" they're saying "it's the players who failed" when you have to show restraint or adjust to what's going on sometimes.
