Despite liking the booking I found it hard to enjoy the Rumble this year. The focus on entrances was excessive to put it mildly. Every wrestler comes out in full costume, does their costumary poses and only when they reach the ring do we go back to the match. I am surprised some wrestlers made it to the ring before the countdown started again. I am sure it is fun for the crowd but at home it got tedious super fast. Maybe from now on have picture in picture during entrances so we can still see the match.
Any one else get taken out by it?
Is this very new or am I just slow in noticing?

I don't think it's as big of a problem if they were in a normal arena. Since they switched to baseball stadiums, the entrance way is always at an awkward location and way too long. It would be better if they cut some seats out and put the entrance in a closer location to have a normal sized entrance ramp.

Bring back the style of Roddy Piper running in like a maniac (or Da Maniac?) to pummel Flair in ‘92, or Bret limping out after a dramatic amount of time in ‘94.

It’s kind of nuts to watch those old Rumbles now. I watched Royal Rumble 90 last week. Everyone on the roster is so over that the crowd loudly reacts to the person the moment they clear the curtain. You don’t even need the music. The crowd reaction almost replaces it to build the excitement of a new entrant. It’s a really awesome presentation, but I’m not sure it would happen today. Even if everyone on the card was that over, it probably wouldn’t work very well in a huge baseball stadium.

It definitely felt a bit overboard. I get that some folks will have a bit more showmanship to their entrance but you also need some guys running out like a house of fire.

The Cody smoke (no mirrors) and pyro was a bit much for a Rumble entrance that wasn't #1 or #2.

The shorthand I remember some people saying during the later Vince years of WWE booking was “All that really matters is a wrestler’s entrance, catchphrase, finisher, and the first note/sound of their theme.” That emphasis on the showmanship has definitely stuck around.

That is so much better than doing a normal entrance in a normal arena. Looks like a mini WrestleMania show.

I was taken aback by the length of the entry way, not having watched in a while, but will never get used to the weird CGI bits some people get as part of their entrance. For some reason it makes me think of Tattoo Assassins.

Tbf having unnecessary grand entrances has been a Cody thing ever since Aew He did it a ton in TNA, ROH, and NJPW too. It's been his thing since he left WWE the first time and started using "Kingdom" as his entrance theme.
