No, no need for alarm, they aren't making a live action remake of it (yet).
Let's talk about the fact that Arthur's voice changes basically in every scene. He was voiced by three different people the whole film, his original voice actor was going through puberty at the time causing his voice to change. Disney didn't like it so they had the director's sons fill in for him for parts of the film.
So the end product being in that one scene Arthur sounds like a teenager, while in others he sounds like he's not even ten. Sometimes even between sentences they'd change.

Of all the movies they should have made as live action, this was one of the few I would have preferred, although I would hate if they took it in such a drastic different direction like Dumbo and probably ruin it.
Arthur's voice is distracting, but it doesn't really hurt the end product.

I had a sword in the stone activity book when I was really young. There was a thing where you connected the dots and it drew the sword while it was being pulled out of the stone. I drew my lines crooked and when my brothers brought that up, I just said that he bent the sword.

If they have to make a LA version. I hope they get Jim Broadbent as Merlin.

But seriously though, how hard was it to have one kid get through an 80 minute script? They couldn't re-record earlier scenes?

This was one of my fave Disney movies as a kid and I never noticed the different voices. I was just a kid though and haven't seen it since. It's one of those movies that I enjoyed so much as a child that I don't want to watch it again and realise it was awful, lol

đLucky hedgehog.đĄ I always liked Sword In The Stone, yeah stuff happens in it but aside from Arthur getting upset defending Merlin, itâs one of the more âeasy goingâ Disney features, a different era of storytelling from the studioâs more involved plots recently.

I'll accept a remake....if they give that girl squirrel a happy ending. A while back I left a comment on a piece of fan art. The artist depicted a scenario of Merlin turning the squirrel human and dubbing her Guinevere. I wrote âShe wants his nuts.â The Artist: âI guess that wasnât meant for kidsâŠâ Me: â? Sheâs a squirrel so she likes nuts. I thought that explained itself.â

With all the Arthurian tales they could have pulled from, I'm surprised Sword in the Stone never got a direct-to-video sequel. Especially when you consider the movies that did.
Although, I don't think they would have the guts to do the Arthur/Guinevere/Lancelot love triangle in a direct-to-video Disney cartoon.

Hope someone does something with The Once and Future King as a whole. Need to see an animated or live action version of the "Pax Non" argument.

I'll accept a remake....if they give that girl squirrel a happy ending. Direct to video style sequel: we find out she was Gwenevere in a transformed state. I've said in a thread before that there was potential for such a film during the height of the direct to video era of Disney: -Formation of the Round Table -Redemption of Kay from jerkass to overprotective big bro for Arthur -Gwenevere -Morgan Le Fay as villain (yes I know she wasn't always one in the stories but a good majority of works make her one) I'm sure there are other things they could do too.

Btw wasnât this the movie that made up JRR Tolkienâs mind that Disney would never get the rights to his work?

Bakshi's LOTR has some good atmosphere and visual tone, but performance-wise aside from the 1978 Frodo who was solid, the Peter Jackson trilogy obliterates it.

Get me someone respectable, like that guy that made Fritz the Cat!" My understanding is that he disliked how Disney watered down the stories. He felt that even fairy stories had room for more mature themes, instead of just cookie cutter kids entertainment. He also wasnât fond of their art style at the time.

I am surprised given some of the talk about sequels and follow-ups to The Sword In The Stone by Disney, that nobody seems to realize that Disney gave Arthur a follow-up eventually:
