Roman. Just do exactly what they did a few years later except actually commit to the heel turn.

Orton, if only because the streak was beginning to be hyper-mythologized and it would've nipped that quickly.
As it stands now? No one, should've let Taker go into retirement with it.

Honestly Brock. I wouldn’t have changed how it was done. It was a genuine wtf, open mouth moment that won’t be forgotten by me. I wouldn’t have minded Randy winning in 05 or Punk whatever year that was. Roman was so unpopular, can you imagine if he ended the streak. People would have taken it worse than Cody losing last Mania 😬

this is my answer, sure the last few matches after the streak ended were rough due time & age catching up to taker but in the stupid spectacle that is pro wrestling it was a record that could have been used (and still could.) to boost someone else trying to equal or beat that record without taker's streak being broken. even though it was an unintended win streak for a decade before it became a thing they celebrated/promoted it's still something that can be used to add drama to certain matches.

Brock was the right guy at the right time I think.
Shame that there’s a cloud over it though. Then again Taker was tight with Vince for years so hopefully he didn’t get up to any bullshit too.

2 21 11 teased it. Sting was a few years younger. You don't get a WCW vs. WWE feud with this one. Just two mythical characters. As the ultimate sign of respect for Sting, if the streak must end, he is the one to do it.

Dream - Sting
Reality - Should have been Roman at the time he beat him. Full heel turn included.

Should’ve never ended. They’ll never ever build anything like that ever again, so many things had to go right for it to happen.

If it had to happen to anyone, I always wanted Orton or Barrett.Barrett was who I always wanted. Has the believable size and scheming character for it.

Randy would have been cool in hindsight but you’d have missed out on the money-period of takers streak getting hot. ALSO, I dread to think what that could have done to Randy’s ego.
Roman probably would have been the best choice. Especially if they used it to make him go heel at that point instead of the shit they were doing with him.
I actually don’t like the idea of no one ever beating him.

My first answer is nobody, because it should’ve been over and done with after the End of an Era match (and he should’ve retired then and there).
Side note: Bray should’ve beat him after Brock to “finish him off,” absorb his powers, and become the new spooky man of the company.

Giant Gonzalez since he only lost by DQ. Giant Gonzales, of course. This post is ridiculous. Gonzales obviously should have gone over clean

John Cena, who has to do something heelish like pulling tights or putting his feet on the ropes during a pinfall to win the match. Use Cena cheating and beating 'Taker as the start of a heel turn.

Jimmy Snuka. I would've ended it before it even began.
