The Pro Bowl and the NHL ASG's just happened this week and they were pretty terrible to watch. I get they are more for kids, but in years past, these games were the few times a year you would get to see the athletes in a more relaxed environment. Now with social media, there is no shortage of similar content.
The NHL is taking a pause from ASG's for the next few years with the Olympics anda 4 Nations Cup (Sweden, Finland, US, Canada).
The NBA's has enough star power around it with celebrities that they can make it somewhat interesting, but its really still just designed to get social media hits. It's not like it was in the 90's where the top stars would do the 3 point and slam dunk contests.

In the early days of Interleague Play, before MLB.tv and the proliferation of ways to watch out-of-market games, the Major League Baseball All-Star Game was absolutely appointment viewing for me. My only ways to watch baseball were the Red Sox on local television in New England, an occasional Braves game on TBS, and whoever was playing on FOX on Saturday afternoons or ESPN on Sunday nights. But the All-Star Game represented a chance to actually watch the greatest players of that era outside of highlights on SportsCenter.
But now that you can basically watch any game you want, any time you want, and with Interleague Play now a full part of the season schedule and not just a few fun weeks in summer, the All-Star Game has lost its luster. That said, it's still the best of the big four all-star showcases, as the Pro Bowl has devolved into a literal flag football contest, the NBA All-Star Game has always been a pickup game but now it's basically an in-game dunk contest, and I can't make heads or tails of the NHL's All-Star Game structure.

The WNBA is still in its growth phase, so their all star game is a nice combo of fun & enough competitiveness to make it enjoyable. When the NBA players give effort, theirs can be the best of the best

Utter waste of time.
MLB at least tried to pretend it was important with home field advantage being at stake

Nah, they all suck now. No one wants to get hurt playing a meaningless game.
MLB used to be cool before inter league…but MLB had to cash in.

When I watched I enjoyed the NFL skills competitions more than the actual game.
Honestly though I wish they'd turn the games over to the people who ran the old MTV Rock n Jock stuff at this point. I might watch then.

I agree that interleague play killed the MLB All-Star Game however I have no problem with interleague play. It has never made any sense that you could have two teams like the Giants and Tigers who have won championships and have never once in decades played one another in a game.
The NBA has just gotten boring.

I went to the NHL All Star Game in St. Louis a couple years ago. I had fun, The fanfest was really cool. The skills competition was neat. The game itself, was ok. Still fun to be at.
The NFL just became unwatchable. MLB use to be funnier when they try and make the game matter in some way.
