Apparently Playboy Buddy Rose is in the HOF, even though I was going to mention he's another guy who wasn't. He's another one of those "Legacy" inductees. I really really hate the Legacy Wing. Just give the man a proper induction or 30 second video...not hard to do.

I agree about the legacy wing but I totally get their being time constraints in not being able to induct everyone on one night. And with the legacy wing inductees being deceased, you'd be having to reach out to so many different family members for speeches and they may not be prepared to talk. There may also not be family members that can be found for people who have long since passed. The legacy wing is done or on hold over the last few years and it's not surprising. There were some issues about inductees families not being contacted at all and of course, an issue with Ethel Johnson's picture being of someone else.

King Kong Bundy and Leilani Kai are still not in. Not sure about Matt Borne (probably got a legacy induction). David Sammartino is not in though not surprising. Bruno did not talk to him for many years and they never reconciled prior to Bruno's passing.
Call me a cynic, but I think David Flair will get into the Hall of Fame before David Sammartino.

I wonder if they're reluctant to put Arsenio in there due to Hogan lying about steroids on his show.

If Bruno and he had been close towards the end, I can see Bruno championing for his son but without Bruno behind him, there's no reason. But if there's one person (non celeb) from the the first Wrestlemania that doesn't get in, it's got to be David. And not because of his father. He just didn't do much of note. He did the phantom submission with Ron Shaw, not sure if he left after that but he did get fired in early 88 due to punching a fan. And I think it was ultimately that which Bruno never forgave Vince for (Vince said the same thing on Larry King). I don't think it was the steroids that kept Bruno away for so long. Pretty much everyone else on Wrestlemania, a case can be made for them having an impact on wrestling.

There were some issues about inductees families not being contacted at all and of course, an issue with Ethel Johnson's picture being of someone else. I think it has less to do with the sloppiness of the videos and more to do with the current broadcast format of the Hall of Fame ceremony. Before, they wouldn't promote the Legacy Wing on RAW or Smackdown, but they'd air in on the WWE Network during the ceremony. For the last three years though, they'd have to show it on actual network. With that comes rights and compensation legalities. They exploited a loophole for the sake of cleaning up old omissions and now it would probably cost them a little more. The pitiful, monthly WWE Network payout wasn't going to cut it on Fox and NBC. I suspect another reason of the hold is that the Legacy Wing was clearly a Triple H baby and when he fell out of power, the Legacy Wing was ignored. Triple H bought memorabilia off of Lou Thesz's widow a few years prior to the launch of the Legacy Wing. He's a student of history and with the likes of Sammartino, Warrior, and Savage getting inducted, he wanted to fill in the gaps. But he also wanted to honor some names that clearly weren't getting approved by McMahon for regular inductions. That's why Pat O'Connor got into the first Legacy Wing class. O'Connor is one of HHH's all-time favorites. That spot could have easily gone to Dr Jerry Graham if Vince had been more involved the first year, but HHH was basically putting it together with maybe some help from Howard Finkel before he passed. Also, I'm sure Thunderbolt Patterson's induction video this year is going to mention that he was trained by O'Connor as well. So, will it return this year? Maybe. With different owners and HHH being in charge, I doubt they'd care if the family of the Crusher or Danny Hodge got whatever Heyman or Nakano are getting. On the other hand, some of the other inductees this year seem more like Legacy Wing potentials and if HHH no longer has to use that wing to induct someone like Thunderbolt Patterson, then it might be gone for good.

Yes! Both Arsenio and someone like Regis Philbin were great hosts who always treated wrestling with respect and always seemed to genuinely love interacting with the talent that they brought on. They also promoted events. Arsenio even had a match take place on one episode. I fully endorse this!

I don’t know if it is Hall of Fame worthy, but Conan was always open to having wrestlers on his shows throughout the years.

If we're talking about inducting a late night host, there's only one who has beaten Hulk Hogan.

He promoted wrestling for years even going back to his days on the Joey Bishop show with Fred Blassie. But now he's gone, so it's too late for him to get recognition.

Yeah, I echo everyone's sentiments about Regis. Especially how he went into retirement after he was done his show, he had time to do the WWE Hall of Fame.
That would've been a hell of a speech.
Also, I might be showing my age, but if Ray Combs was still alive, man, he would be another amazing Hall of Famer. His speech would've been full of him roasting guys and it would've been great.
RIP Regis and Ray.

So I rememeber when Philly was announced people were saying it was going to be an ECW heavy class.
Guess no Sandman, Sabu or anyone else buy Heyman for this class.

Would imagine like next year we wont see a Undertaker/Rock/Batista/Bray like Headliner and it will again be a small class due to the fact financially it makes more sense to save them for a year where SD and the HOF are not in the same Arena/Night. They are just gonna elect enough people to give them contractually obligated content for a Peacock Livestream.

Never have I anticipated a hall of fame speech as much as I am anticipating Thunderbolt Pattersons speech.

He always loved have the wrestlers on his show and was at a Mania or two I think.

A fan took a picture with Thunderbolt at the airport. He is in a wheelchair but has both arms and legs. What a crap thing to write about him, whoever posted it on wikipedia.
