The first big Post-Ospreay and Post-Okada NJPW thing is this Cup and uh...
Yeah it's gonna be rough for awhile isn't it?

I was wondering when the first APFW show was happening, as they had announced an April start, but the same weekend as WCR is interesting. If we assume the people on the poster are not traveling to the US, that means no Tana, Despy, J5G, HoT, Shingo, Tsuji Bishamon and whoever the Jr. Champ is at the time. This is the route New Japan needs to be taking though - partnering with other Asian promotions and expanding in the area.

Everyone knows that in my world Tsuji beat SANADA for the belt and Shota beat Ospreay for his and the world is sunshine, rainbows and a better tomorrow. But…at the very least given what’s transpired with the roster since not doing those things…my final four in the Cup would have been written in permanent marker as Tsuji, Shota, Yuya and…someone. I’m not doing HoT shit when I need to heat guys up so Narita is out with me. Kidd maybe. Of course, Windy City Riot blocks me from having anyone win the belt…but it’s well past time for these guys to go on meaningful runs that doesn’t involve their only wins being against each other. It’s madness. Gedo acts like he both has years to push these guys and that it’s somehow better in the long run if he doesn’t. Meanwhile he has a one eyed, broken down champion whose gimmick is that he doesn’t care and outside of Sabre…he has no one close to acceptable for a challenger let alone champion. So what does he do? Move Hiromu to heavyweight? Strap the rocket to a young guy with star quality? Nah. Push HoT, baby! This guy was the GOAT booker for a long time. Now he’s their biggest obstacle to righting the ship. All these booking problems started when Togo returned and convinced him that WCW 2000 and TNA 04 were great years

I wanna know how Callum got picked over someone like Hiromu, he hasn't even won ten matches in New Japan.
Oleg has a winning record for a Young Lion so he's an exception

Factions are 1000% a part of the problem too.
Look how many now lack a credible leader who can slide into a main event. Chaos, HoT, United Empire, Bullet Club proper. Just 5 Guys had the champion for the last half a year and it only made everything colder and no one wants to see SANADA near that spot again. You’ve got LIJ with the top heavyweight (Naito), jr heavyweight (Hiromu), young guy (Tsuji) and the only guy established as a former champion that hasn’t left, broken down or flopped (Shingo)
Everyone else has nothing aside from TMDK’s leader.
Gedo is going to push all these dead factions as if nothing has changed to the detriment of everyone. Chaos was Okada. United Empire was Ospreay. Bullet Club was always a leader a lot fricking better than David Finlay. Hot is garbage.

All the factions are stale at this point and time. The well has run dry with Bullet Club

Tama has signed with WWE, which honestly was the best fit for him. Don't know what the rest of the OGBC is up to these days, but that will be a fun locker room with Devitt, Karl and Doc back together again.

I think Desperado could make the move to heavyweight, but if they rather not go that route, how about mysterious newcomer Masked Mikami:

United Empire has the unique issue that Jeff Cobb probably would be a fine enough leader but I doubt he wants it, and O-Khan is long due for a face run and wouldn't likely lead the group with that given guys like TJP, etc, are probably heels forever. So, you have two guys with some measure of credibility, but neither should lead the group, and f***ing Henare isn't going to be anywhere near where he ought to be if they were going to give the role to him.

Tana’s ankle injury is worse than originally thought, so he will now miss the entire NJC tour and the match with Nemeth at Sakura Genesis.

I think Desperado could make the move to heavyweight, but if they rather not go that route, how about mysterious newcomer Masked Mikami: Would a way forward be elevating guys like Desperado and Tanahashi to heavyweight and then rebuilding the Jr scene with freelancers while the company rebuilds?

Disregard David Finlay, embrace Jeff Cobb. The Virgin David Finlay vs. The Chad Jeff Cobb I bet Finlay hasn't even murdered anyone on El Rey Network, what a loser.
