His wiki said he left WWE due to family issues and then he just retired. Has any info ever come out on what happened to him? As hot as he was in TNA, I would have expected him to pop up there again at some point but the guy just seems to have gone from promising up and comer to completely vanished.

I think the story going around at the time was his sister got really sick (or may have even passed away I'm not sure) so he immediately retired to look after her kids.
It was a real shame for wrestling but family comes first.

It was a real shame for wrestling but family comes first. That's very good of him and makes me like him even more than I already did.

His sister passed away and he took in her kids. He went back to personal training and had only made 1 or 2 wrestling appearances since.

As stated he became Bernie Mac taking in his sisters kids.
As I understand it he had a six figure personal trainer gig. Certain people backstage supposedly used that to keep him from the top spot, claiming he didnt do enough indie gigs to get better because of his day job. WWE offered him enough of a downside to quit.

If I remember right…TNA wanted to bring him back to face Moose on the Mania weekend that Covid cancelled. Not sure if he was up for it…or how far it got. Didn’t matter in the end anyway.
I’ll go to my grave believing Brown should have beaten Jarrett for the belt on the early episode of Impact on fox sports where they had a match for the title. He got hit with the guitar..no sold it…place went bonkers. Should have Pounced him and pinned him. Jarrett could have won it back later…but Brown was hot, carried himself like a giant star, cut awesomely unique promos…and they peaked the match exactly right for a memorable title change.

His sister died and left behind very young kids. Monty basically retired on the spot to go care for them. Iirc at the time he was told he'd be welcomed back anytime but yeah, he put family first.

Just to point out, the Monty Brown v Jeff Jarrett match is on YouTube in full.

Guy was solid but he never got to show his personality in the WWE as Marcus Cor Von. For me he's one of wrestlings biggest What Ifs? but he looked out for his family. Somethings are far more important.

I always confuse his story with Sonny Siaki, who retired after donating a kidney to his brother. Two stand up dudes.

I was a Marcus Cor Von mark.
Once he finally did the jump from TNA to WWE I was excited. I'm glad at least he got to work a Wrestlemania in his short run.

I still think about him constantly. He made the right move being a wonderful family man but I just know with a little more time he would’ve been megastar over. Still not worth your own personal peace and raising those kids though.

I still have a very sour taste in my mouth because of that.

Somethings are far more important. He showed his personality a few times, hell during his first promo he did a big response to the What chants that got people behind him. That said he really wasn't there long enough to really have anything to do.

WWE offered him a legends deal, probably to appear in NXT. He said no.

Watching Rhino/Joe/Brown 3 way and it’s insane this man hasn’t reached the brightest of highs. Good on him for having his priorities right, but… them kids gotta be teens now so come back dammit!! Lol

The Marcus Cor Von name and theme were real head scratchers. Lets not forget, his russian leg sweep/Fujiwara Armbar finisher 🤔
