Assuming everything else stayed the same? I doubt I’d see much difference, except for a lot of embarrassing YouTube videos of me playing with my LJN figures.
I grew up in the middle of the country. No other kids around. So the opportunity for mischief was zero.

Given the mass increase of school shootings.....hard pass.

I guess the biggest difference would be texting instead of sitting at my computer using AIM/Yahoo.

Are we pretending COVID didn't happen in this case? Cause that would have been even worse than 9/11.
If yes, it's tough to say. I was always pretty introverted, and my parents were pretty strict about me not joining any social media at the time so I doubt socially anything would have changed. I do wonder if something like gamergate or the Andrew Tates of the world would have radicalized me though. I see them as scum now but as a dip shit teen that just played video games and went on Newgrounds, who can say.

I wish I could go back with what I know now to my teenage years. I'd either be in a lot better place in life than I am now or dead.
I'm eternally thankful that camera phones were just starting to become widespread towards the later half of my teenage years. I'd probably still be in jail if some of that shit got recorded.

I've mentioned it to people before but I'm so glad things like Facebook and Twitter didn't exist during my Teenage and School years. I know for a fact I would have written stuff that I would be biting my fist about now.

No, definitely not.
I didn't really enjoy being a teenager very much for all sorts of reasons, but I imagine it to be incredibly isolating and lonely and...well, boring now. My world might have been trashed by the Great Recession, and all my hopes and dreams dashed, but at least I actually had them. I'm not sure what there really is for zoomers and Generation Alpha, they've never known the world that came before all of that, only the lost decades that came afterwards. They get criticised for being addicted to technology and consumerism, but there isn't really anything else for them.

Absolutely not. I don't think I would have liked growing up in a world of social media. I much prefer my internet interactions to be as they are here, behind a screenname and relatively anonymous. Even on my personal social media accounts I don't share photos or videos of myself. I think there is far more pressure on teens today to conform.

I was in senior year of high school when texting became a thing, there was no social media. I am so glad I grew up when I did, I can barely handle the world we live in now as an adult. Would not want to be navigating it as a horny, awkward nerdy teenager.

I would have enjoyed it more now. I’m purdy introverted.
For that and weight reasons, I am so, so, so glad I grew up when I did.

I was an social outcast as a teen because of the things I liked: video games, RPGs, superhero comics, pro wrestling. Other than wrestling, these things are all pretty mainstream now. Which is a problem. Because I always was, and still am, the type that generally rejects the mainstream. So if I grew up now, I'd be a different person and I have no idea what I'd be into nowadays. I'm pretty sure I'd be just as miserable now as I was then, though.

Played 2 sports but never hung out with the jocks outside of school. Was in honors classes never hung out with thos people outside of school. Learned decades later most of my class mates just assumed on the weekends I stayed home reading comics, watching horror movies and playing Genesis games. When I was out at concerts and parties and going wild. Odd how in less than 20 years almost everything I love became accepted.

Nah I'm good.
Don't get me wrong, my teen years weren't that bad.
But with how prevalent social media and camera phones are now... I wouldn't last very long before going mad.

Old here.
No thanks to this offer. When I was a teen, we either had mullets or high top box fades (the most hilarious of which could be found on white guys who, just 18 months earlier, were sporting said mullets but decided to trade in their KISS tees for gold chains and turtlenecks and Megadeth tapes for Too Short).
Nowadays, the hair is much worse with the broccoli heads and Edgars.
And the only way I know this is because I have a teenage daughter.

Yep oddly by 92 mullets were gone in my area, besides on older males. Most guys were shaving their heads bald or had long hair. I went with shaving my head bald to save time. But the basketball coach wasnt allowing anyone on the team to have hair past their shoulders.

I have teen coworkers, and none of it looks appealing to me. It seems like it'd be even more stressful now than back then.

Not like climate change wasn't an issue 20 years ago, but it's so much more of an issue now. Ditto for housing. Or affordability of life in general.

Being a teenager now seems like a nightmare. Social media alone would probably make it a lot worse. Yeah I feel bad for kids now, worst I did was send too many messages to a girl on AIM when I was in high school.

it probably would have helped me, since I was not down with talking to people on the phone and it was still the generation, where people had to call each other up to chat and make plans. Could have helped my social life a lot better.
But then again, with my social awkwardness, I'd probably annoy an alienate more people.
But yeah, I wouldn't want to deal with all the other bs kids have to navigate these days with people always filming and gossiping on social media, and pervy shit they have easy access to now.
