I’ve been thinking a lot about the human brain. About what a mystery it is. And about the idea of fully unlocking it. Sort of like the movie Limitless, I suppose. The onus for this came from a conversation I had with my cousin. I told you guys that, this past Summer, I spent two weeks in the hospital. The doctors still can’t fully explain what happened to me. But it at least, partially, involved my brain. In the early stages, of my stay, I guess I vacillated between delirium and coherence. And I don’t remember any of it. Which leads back to the conversation with my cousin. He told me that, while he was visiting, during a moment of coherence, we started talking about Charles Whitman, who in 1966, murdered 16 people, most from a sniping position in the clock tower at the University of Texas. Now, I just had to look up the year and the death toll. I’ve watched a documentary on the topic and done some limited reading, but I’m by no means an expert on the subject. But my cousin said that I had an almost encyclopedic knowledge, during our conversation. A conversation I have no recollection of. Clearly, the facts I’ve heard about this case, are stored in my brain, somewhere. But I couldn’t recall them, right now. Off the top of my head, I could tell you his name, his means, and location. Everything else, I had to look up. But, at that time, whatever was happening in my brain, allowed me to recall everything I’d ever learned about the subject. I’m not even sure what point I’m trying to make. What happened to me, and still not knowing exactly what it was, still f***s with me. And I guess I’m still trying to work it out.

It's been said many times that our brain is like a computer, only far more powerful and sophisticated. The down side is that it's like this amazing computer that none of us have any idea how to use even close to its maximal efficiency, OR it's a really powerful computer that is crazy inefficient and seems to randomly encrypt our files and store them in places we don't know how to access.

My thought is that brains aren't so great.
I mean, if they were then why do we hide them under our skulls and stuff?

When I suffered a cerebral stroke a year and a half ago, I was under the care of Dr Igor. I clujfbtvresysr asking if he’d swapped my brain for Abbey Someone. He had no idea what the hell I was referring to.

It has been said we know more about the Universe than we do about the human brain and we don't understand shit about that.
It really has always fascinated me but more so in the past three years since my Mom suffered a subdural hematoma and had to have a craniotomy to survive it. Her short term memory is all over the place and it is like things won't stick immediately but an hour later she'll remember what was discussed. Other times, it is like a steel trap. It is really strange and we are actually going to the neurologist on Friday to see what else can be done as she's already passed other tests with her normal doctor to rule out Alzheimer's and whatnot.

I was transferred from one hospital to another, to keep my blood pressure then they gave me a Valium. Out like a light. In the middle of the night I got woken up to get a kat scan. They lifted me into the machine with cable machine on the ceiling. Still half off my face, I started singing “I believe I can fly!”

I’ve been thinking a lot about the human brain. Are you pondering what I'm pondering?
