I don’t have a problem with the brand split, but I think it can be set up better. One world champ, one women’s champ (alternate between ppvs). Which completely destroys the point of a brand split. If it's supposed to be an alternative productive it should be an alternative product, not just an arbitrary line in the sand on which night of the week people work while still having continual overlap in the main stories.

We did get Daniel Bryan single handedly destroying The Shield which made him a megastar.

95% of the time, it was a nothing show. But every once in a while you get something like this. Bryan shouting at a crying Show "HOW CAN YOU BE SO RECKLESS? SHE WEIGHS 95 POUNDS, YOU ARE 500 POUNDS" will always be hilarious.
Okay, now I wanna see AEW replicate this spot with Big Show and Riho just for shits and giggles.

I had to listen to that song so many times in 2K17's MyCareer.

I think nothing encapsulated that era of SmackDown more than the 2011 WWE Draft.
John Cena gets drafted to SmackDown. He comes out on stage wearing the blue T-shirt. Two hours later, he gets drafted back to Raw and wears the red T-shirt as the show goes off the air.
Nobody thought for a second that Cena was actually going to go to SmackDown while he was in the midst of a year-long build to a WrestleMania main event with The Rock. WWE had made this colossal investment in the biggest possible match and for like two hours, we were supposed to believe that Cena and Rock were about to settle their beef on a pre-taped show that had like Brodus Clay versus Great Khali in a dance-off, in front of an audience of like 60 people watching at home.

While not as insignificant, I'd argue that Smackdown became rather redundant and unimportant going back to 2007. It was obviously the B show at this point.

It didn’t help that Smackdown didn’t appear to count in canon. It would never get recapped or referenced on RAW even when something of consequence took place.
Hilariously Seth appeared on the Smackdown immediately following his heel turn in 2014 and cut a promo basically saying he’d only explain himself on RAW. And, yes, his appearance on the following RAW were treated like the first time he’d appeared since the turn.

I thought Smackdown in 2011 was great with the feud with Orton vs. Christian and the rise of Mark Henry to the World title. If you were a Christian fan and didn't have access to the PPVs that "feud" was so one sided and unbearable. Completely made him look like a pathetic chump.

When I read the Smackdown Spoilers on here that evening, I thought someone was trolling and was shocked when Christian lost to Orton a few days after the PPV. I have learned to appreciate their feud in later years but disappointed he didn't get a long run with it.

Even if you didn’t read the spoilers there was no way you didn’t know what happened because this place was absolutely heated when that came out. Wasn’t just a passing thing either, it lingered for a bit. I remember that Summerslam match being maybe 20 minutes or so of Orton kicking his ass then only losing the title because of the title can change hands by DQ rule.

While not as insignificant, I'd argue that Smackdown became rather redundant and unimportant going back to 2007. It was obviously the B show at this point. By virtue of it debuting six years after Monday Night Raw, and by being taped while Raw aired live, SmackDown was always going to fight the notion that it was the "B-show." I thought the closest they ever came to truly being the flag-bearer for WWE programming was in 2002 and 2003 with Brock Lesnar, Undertaker, and the SmackDown Six. Other than that, Raw always had the A-level talent and champions, until SmackDown moved to Fox and became WWE's clear top brand. For example, John Cena made a name for himself on SmackDown, but when it was becoming apparent that he was being groomed to be the face of the company, he was moved to Raw and never looked back. But yeah, once SmackDown shuffled around to The CW and MyNetworkTV, there were no doubts as to which show commanded the most importance, but at least SmackDown from say 2004 through 2010 - when it was still its own brand - still had some cache thanks to the likes of Undertaker, Batista, Edge, Eddie Guerrero, Booker T, Randy Orton, and Rey Mysterio.

Yeah, that Orton / Christian feud was absolute garbage. Even the matches really weren't very good because every one of them was just Orton beating the shit out of him for 20 minutes.

Every match in their feud was great in my opinion. Their Over The Limit match in particular was excellent. It’s just all so tainted because of the rage I felt towards the Fed at the time. Christian’s heel character work was phenomenal in retrospect, I just had no desire to see it, I just wanted to see the thank you run as a top babyface that Christian so richly deserved.

I thought their SummerSlam match was great. I also liked their match at Over the Limit that year where they did spots playing off their first match on Smackdown. I know it was one-sided as far as the wins go but I thought they were really good back-and-forth matches myself.
