Batista had his humble beginnings with Evolution on the Raw brand from 2003-2005 before turning face followed by defeating Triple H for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship Belt. Not long after, Batista got moved to the SmackDown brand to compensate for John Cena moving to Raw as both guys were in contention to be the face of the company for years to come.
From 2005 to 2008, Batista had an uneventful run on SmackDown with injuries and a backstage brawl with Booker T. Then the 2008 WWE Draft happened, and Batista was moved back to the Raw brand even though Cena was still on Raw.
How Batista got drafted was John Cena (Raw) winning his match against Edge (SmackDown) and earning Raw the No. 7 draft pick, which was Batista. Some say that USA Network (the cable TV channel for Raw) wanted Batista on the Raw roster since he was a proven draw not named Cena.

Who can forget shortly after the draft, they showed Batista warming up on camera only for a fan to jump in between them and imitate Batista and get chased away by security? Haha.

Isn’t this what led to CM Punk’s 1st MITB cash-in?

An uneventful run...where he wrestled the Undertaker at WrestleMania as World Heavyweight Champion and was permanently in the main event.

Yeah, I don’t know how anyone can call Batista’s SmackDown run “uneventful.” Was he injured a lot? Sure was. But when he wasn’t he was always in the title picture or main event and was either 1 or 1a to The Undertaker on SmackDown during that era.

Batista in 2005 was That Dude. The injury bug hitting him sucked, but he felt second only to Cena as top guy in the company.

Yeah I'd say the '08 raw run was the uneventful part. He feuded with Orton and I think won the title again at some point? Then it's a blank space in my head until the spost'a be ma frannnnd heel turn, so I'm assuming it was more injuries along the way.
