They were WCW's best tag team outside of The Outsiders (Kevin Nash & Scott Hall), and there was even some FMV footage of The Steiner Brothers.
Yet they were playable in the Nintendo 64 version of WCW Nitro, although Scott was presented as his Big Poppa Pump character while in the PS1 FMV cutscenes he was depicted as his 1997 self where he was in his in-between transformation phase from Steiner Brother to BPP.

Yeah I've no idea, they weren't even unlockable. Otherwise, the roster in that game is stacked. Even if they all share the one of two different movesets haha.

I wonder if it was a contract negotiation thing. Otherwise that game has a stacked roster and was the catalyst for me buying a PS1 instead of an N64.

buying a PS1 instead of an N64. Ooof. How hard did you regret THAT? I was a PS1 kid as well and looking back, an N64 would have been the better choice for wrestling games BY FAR.

I don't regret it at all, in fact I made the right choice. I didn't have a lot of money, and my parents weren't going to spring for anything, so the idea of paying $50 or more for an N64 game meant I'd be mowing a lot of lawns. Otherwise, PS1 would typically drop their price within a year. What's funny is I never went out and bought WCW Nitro, but I did end up getting Warzone...which in turn prepared me for the Smackdown games... which I absolutely loved. I did buy an N64 in 2001 when they started getting marked down, and bought No Mercy, and it's a good game, but I probably wouldn't have been able to afford it at the time had I gotten an N64 instead.

Something to note about WCW Nitro is that the PS1 version is an entirely different game outright from the N64 and PC versions, which were actually WCW/nWo Thunder but without the cage match feature.

That's interesting, I had no idea. Do the controls play any better? I ask because I had ECW Hardcore Revolution for the Dreamcast, which had a two week delay compared to the PS1/N64 versions, and it looks like that extra two weeks was to tighten up the controls because it plays FAR better than on the other systems. I didn't understand why (outside of being a reskinned Attitude) it was so notoriously hated until I tried it on the other consoles years later.

I can't really say I've played much of WCW Nitro or Thunder in any of the versions, but it's still the same sub-par engine regardless of the roster. But at the very least, Nitro PS1 has different promo FMVs from Thunder and Nitro PC. If anything, Nitro PC is best game out of all of them since you can edit the texture files pretty easily so you can mod whoever you want into the game. But you'd still be playing Nitro at the end of the day.

PS1 Nitro came first That was updated to Thunder Cage was removed by roster kept and re-skinned and sold on N64 and PC as Nitro The PS1 Nitro game has a very early 1996 feel to it with some emergency additions. One of the giveaways in terms of the emergency feel is that almost everyone has their early to mid 1996 gear on and Sting has a never used look that would have been his "what if Sting wrestled?" late 1996 look. If I remember correctly the early screens of the game had Hogan only in red and yellow (he's unlockable in this attire but it was his default), surfer Sting (same situation as Hogan), etc. The Steiners, who were supposed to come in March 1995 (!) instead came in in March-ish 1996 instead and didn't feel necessarily full time while the Thunder/Nitro 64 roster is more of an early 1998 feel.

The flipside of the Thunder/Nitro64PC roster is that it doesn't have Ric Flair for the same reason Revenge doesn't have him, which of course is the 1998 lawsuit.
