When the McMahons sold the WWE, your favorite childhood TV show changed forever. The product you loved like it or not was envisioned, created, and engineered by Vincent Kennedy McMahon.
This is like when Star Wars was sold to Disney. The heart of what made WWE is gone. No Shane, no Stephanie. Triple H, sure. I love Triple H more than anybody but it seems like the Rock is heavily in control.
The shell of wrestlers are there from the good old days, but as years go on it will be a completely new series. I've been a fan for over 20 years but I can't help but notice a giant Prime logo in the middle of the ring. Celebrities everywhere. The booking isn't what I grew up on.
I was loyal to the product but at this point, I may was well watch AEW. This WWE isn't real WWE anymore and my childhood belongs to the old WWE.
Does anybody else feel this way? Somebody else bought our childhood dog and changed his name. Food for thought.

First of all we don’t have a sex trafficker in control, and secondly I feel like the story’s are better, even more so than the attitude era The shell of wrestlers are there from the good old days, but as years go on it will be a completely new series. Me reading the title: "yeah I've had to accept that the wwe I grew up with is long gone, really going away in like 2011/2012 and it's for the best to acknowledge that and not stress so much wanting it to go back to the way I like it and find other avenues to enjoy wrestling that are to my tastes"
Me reading and seeing an immediate comparison to Disney buying Star Wars and saying Vince/Shane/Stephanie the heart of WWE: "maybe i shouldnt partake in this one"

I grew up with the attitude era. The WWE I grew up with changed a long time ago and I can't say I miss it much.

When Final Fantasy 7 became three separate 60 hour games, your favorite childhood video game changed forever. The product you loved like it or not was envisioned, created, and engineered by Tetsuya Nomura.
This is like when they announced the Among Us television show. The heart of what made Final Fantasy is gone. No awful chocobo racing, no 4 disc tray. Cloud Strife, sure. I love Cloud Strife more than anybody but it seems like Sephiroth is heavily in control.
The shell of SOLDIERS are there from the good old days, but as years go on it will be a completely new series. I've been a fan for over 20 years but I can't help but notice a giant open world game in the middle of the trilogy. Mini games everywhere. The game isn't what I grew up on.
I was loyal to Final Fantasy 7 but at this point, I may was well play The World Ends With You. This Final Fantasy 7 isn't real Final Fantasy anymore and my childhood belongs to the old Tifa.
Does anybody else feel this way? Somebody else bought our childhood Red XIII and changed his name. Food for thought, kupo.

It changed in 2005 for me. That's when it was no longer "must watch" and started to focus on one specific person rather than maintaining any kind of story for their other talent. The tag team division died, the midcard had no direction, and WWE refused to course correct on anything.
Honestly, no matter what path WWE took, it was never going to be what it was when I enjoyed it the most.

The WWF I grew up with died a long time before the rapist sold it to Endeavor.
The WWE now is a lot better than it was the last few years under him, too.

I love Triple H more than anybody but it seems like the Rock is heavily in control. Good Riddance. Vince's WWE sucked and doesn't deserve to be missed. Good riddance to decades of always pushing his personal vision of what the top star should be no matter how out of date it was. Burying just about every talent who made a name for themselves anywhere outside of his booking, from Bob Backland who was the face champ who he took over, to giving Kerry Von Erich & Dusty Rhodes silly gimmicks/attires, to the many WCW/ECW stars after the buyouts (especially DDP), to even the NXT call ups. Good riddance to his hate-on for tag team wrestling, & either booking women as sex props or just plain irrelevant. Good riddance to the xenophopia & other insulting sterotype driven gimmicks. good riddance to wrestlers like Ryder, Barret, or Rusev getting buried for the crime of actually getting over. Good riddance to part timers always headlining while the active roster is jobbed out so no new stars are being made.
Do not be nostalgic for a corporation, be nostalgic for the wrestlers. They're what made your childhood, not the McMahons.

The WCW I loved died the moment it was sold to Shane McMahon and he merged it with ECW to be led by Stone Cold Steve Austin.

Honestly, I stopped caring about WWE around roughly 2016-2018 because of how bad it got mainly due to the awfulness that was The Authority and even after that story ended, I honestly only hate-watched (which wasn't a good idea) until I decided to move to greener pastures. And I don't feel like coming back to watch WWE anytime soon.
Like what someone above said, I'm only nostalgic for the wrestlers, not the company.

The Yes Movement is one of my favorite moments of wrestling history.
