I doubt Robert Gibson could get cleared to work WWE.
He still works indies. Just did the big 2 day Widowfest show Battlezone had this weekend.

It was Bobby Fulton and Nikolai. I was friends with Nikolai from 2011 to 2018 and actually drove him to the airport to make this show/drove him back. I had read about the "no ring" from this site actually and asked him on the ride to his car. He said it was for the fans but also they were used to things like this from when they were young and first training so they didn't really mind it. That promoter brought Bobby back pretty regularly and Nikolai another time or two. I don't think it was even for shows, I think it was just interview segments. I know Nikolai did an appearance with Bully Busick and Mr. Hughes for the guy. I remember Nikolai liked the guy. Some wrestlers will do anything as long as the promoter is honest and the pay is good. Yeah, Valentine took a booking in a no shit backyard wrestling fed. They had a “ring” right next to the tire swing and mom’s petunias. Here’s a video of at least one backyard Valentine did (language warning): youtu.be/OU-vdY_uyMM?si=O-0uETzxaJ1ke8bhI wouldn’t be surprised if the other backyard Valentine mentions in the video he worked for was one of AIW house party shows. AIW is a legit indie that books top tier indie talent and has been around for nearly 20 years. But they have had paid shows in people’s backyards. I know Honky Tonk Man definitely worked one. Sabu worked a similar type venue for them too and almost left the booking before appearing, but thought better of it since he thought it wouldn’t be professional on his end. Once he saw AIW were professional too he didn’t have a problem. With backyard shows that actually get pros it’s important to note that they’re not completely like what we think of when we think of backyard wrestling. It’s not like in that clip I linked to Valentine is taking bumps off a rooftop from an untrained teenager. He just lays in a few blows and gives a brief speech.

There been a few out there. As great of a run Sting had in AEW. The biggest reason why that run even happened was WWE was never going to clear Sting. It seems to be a case by case bases anymore though. Like RVD been talking want to see another match in WWE. He also once said he wouldn't pass the test like Foley couldn't. The Dudleys are hinting something for WM 40. They been wanting a last run. I don't know how D-von would get cleared being he had a stroke. Yeah, RVD's got double vision issues from concussions so WWE won't touch him.

I feel like there’s a long list of guys who still do stuff on the indies that the WWE wouldn’t let work a full match.
First one that came to my mind was Sabu. I know he just did a match in AEW but I didn’t see it so I’m not sure how involved he was physically, but I don’t see him passing the tests in WWE. If RVD can’t then Sabu surely shouldn’t be able to.

Sabu wasn't in a match officially. He as an enforcer. Yes he did do a couple spots.

Ultimo Gallos will have a more knowledgeable response than me, but I know for a while Ricky wanted to team with his son Kerry. I don’t know if it hasn’t happened or the results just aren’t online, but if it hasn’t happened I’m surprised MORE companies didn’t book Robert, Ricky, and Kerry in some six mans. It seems like a no brainer since you get the legends wrestling and can have Kerry work the lion’s share of the match. I know a lot of indies will book older tag or singles legends then pair them with a completely unrelated local guy with varying results. When it’s not a random local guy and it’s actually one of the guy’s sons though it seems a lot more understandable. But Cagematch only lists them wrestling in six mans exactly one time (twice if you count an eight man where they also teamed with George South).

I thought he retired in the last year or two-or did he just quit teaming with Ricky Morton again? What Robert is telling promoters is "Ricky wants to team with his kid." Like 2 years ago they did a final RnR Express tour. But yea Robert has worked a near by indie at least once a year the past 4 years. Last year was a free outdoors show where it was low 40s. Robert was smart and stayed in his sweatsuit. Was a 6 man tag so he got the hot tag and made the win. This year he worked Widowfest as the name. No offense to Robert, but it shows how far BZ has fallen. Last year they had Lufisto and Kamille in a NWA Womens title match. And tickets were 20 front row,15 ga for each night. This year all they had was Robert and tickets were 25 front row and 20 for GA each night. I'm sure the hardcore Battlezone fans were there. And the one guy that stands and chants ROCK N ROLL the entire time RObert is out was there.

Could make it a 6 man tag main event and put like whatever indie's top 3 guys against 2 legends. Robert pretty much only works tags now. Even few years ago when we saw him and Ricky on the retirement tour Ricky did most of the work. Odd match. Ended up being the final match for one of the two guys that faced Ricky and Robert. AAnd for the other guy was gonna be his final match, but he has come back 2 times for one offs.

Does Bob Orton still wrestle? If so, he’d never be cleared by WWE because of Hepatitis. In the same vein, X-Pac, maybe? I know he says he's cured, but how reliable is that? And with WWE's policies, I could see them getting cold feet about letting him do anything more than some kicks and an X-Factor. Depends what kind of Hepatitis. Hep C? Once you've completed treatment and the viral load stays 0 for 12 weeks? You're Gucci. It's possible to get it again, but you can't control that. No comment on other hepatitis viruses, I'm less familiar with those.

I know the reason for why Ricky does or did most of the work was Robert has a bad hip that he did have a surgery on last August. This is from Ricky and a friend of mine who is close friends with them and Kerry. Which make sense why he only works tag matches and Ricky did most of the work or he worked less dates. While Ricky is teaming with Kerry.

Does Bob Orton still wrestle? If so, he’d never be cleared by WWE because of Hepatitis. It sucks his 2005 run basically died because of that. I liked Bob as the Dad going out of his way to help out his Son similar to how he was an enforcer for Roddy Piper and goon for Harley Race during the Flair feud. That also said, he knew and Laurinaitus did too. Crazy to think it was swept under the rug, but I imagine Taker wasn't happy after Bob bled on him.
