This topic was inspired by the book "1001 Video Games You Musty Play Before You Die". I've heard it's a good book, but it came out in 2010, so it's kind of dated.
Are there any games you feel like someone MUST play before they die?

Sonic 3 & Knuckles, Resident Evil 4, FFVII Original, Zelda Ocarina/Breath/Majora/Link To Past, Arkham City, Mario World, and Third Strike or Alpha 3 if you even have a passing interest in fighters.

Personally? None. There's a handful of PS exlusives that I wouldn't mind playing – Uncharted, The Last of Us, Ghost of Tsushima, Spider-Man, Rise of the Rōnin – but I'm past the stage where I'd regret never getting a chance to play them.
In general, since 2010? Red Dead Redemption 2 and Mass Effect 2.

Russian Roulette. I heard some played just before they died.

None of them.
I legitimately don't think any game exists that's transcends so high as to appeal to everyone.
Like, a lot of the games already listed that I haven't played straight up don't appeal to me, and I'm at the age now where time is such a commodity I'm not willing to invest that much into something that on the surface looks so middling to me.
Except Russian Roulette, I'd probably kill at that.

Entirely subjective. Depends on one's genres of choice. I'm an RPG brat first and foremost, so Chrono Trigger. I still remember the day the owner of the rental place I frequented at the time brought it out. He'd just gotten a copy, I think I was the first person to play it.
Another choice would be my first real taste of Atlus, and that's SMT: Nocturne. Easier to find now that the remaster's a thing. I really need to get back to it, was roadblocked at Ahriman.

I'd a lot rather just skip to the dying. I played about a half hour of Elden Ring and that was enough to get me to swear off the entire genre. That kind of, "Beat your head against the wall until you succeed," style is just the exact antithesis of fun to me.

I can safely say that Dark Souls and any other Soulslike game are on my list of "Games I must never play before I die."
