ngl I picked the show midway, thought Adam Cole vs Christian was the main event and went to do something else after

Rampage getting higher numbers than usual but crazy that so many switched away with it being advertised so much and on the same channel, oh well, true Rammers get where the bread and butter is The demo rising towards the end of the show is cool I suppose especially against March Madness, shows numbers are consistent with the last few weeks with no major dropoff. Swerve is definitely a draw (And yeah it was Swerve don't know why Butcher is propped up as some dunk on Okada) Even Raw loses viewers in the third hour a lot of times. It’s hard to book a three hour wrestling show.

Hopefully TK stays the course with featuring Mone, Swerve, Ospreay and Okada. While I didn’t think the show itself was great last night, I do still appreciate the booking and format style TK has been going with the last couple of weeks, using all of the top stars and booking star vs. star matches. Keep it going and dont’t settle into old habits and the audience could grow over time. Sometimes it takes a while.

TIL: the mythical “casual wrestling fans” are really just lapsed Every Time I Die fans longing for more Butcher on their televisions.

That is a painful drop at the end.

I will say that, looking at the last few weeks, he REALLY should push Ospreay hard because Ospreay has caught on with fans very quickly.

That is a painful drop at the end. That chart includes Rampage, I’m assuming to ensure that Jimcels get the maximum amount of enjoyment out of a perfectly solid rating on r/rasslin.

That is a painful drop at the end. It's Rampage and it's usually not there so... I figured this would happen really.

The only way to solve this is for Tony to book Okada vs Butcher next week. You don’t want to book Okada to lose so early into his run.

The drop-off for Rampage is a telling example of either:
1. A sizable fraction of people will take the ending of one titled show and the beginning of another titled show as a signal to leave and do/watch something else, even if the second titled show is of the same stuff as the show they've been enjoying
2. Three hours is a tough amount of time to keep a wrestling show going, moreso when it has a clean break from the second hour to the third

Frankly, I have criticized TK a lot when it comes to booking recently. But there really wasn’t much more that he could have done here. He booked a really good 3 hour show essentially. And it was a smorgasbords or everything you could want on a wrestling show. And it was promoted well and they almost sell out the venue. So they did right here. But even if AEW is turning things around, it will take a bit of time for that to pay off hopefully. AND, WWE being on a hot streak and heading into WrestleMania is also not helping AEW either. I think it will be more telling seeing how things are say two months from now?
March Madness started this week, and I will be honest its a fine rating given how sports usually hurt Dynamite.

That airing of Rampage did their best 18-49 number in 2 years. Sure it was a decent sized drop off but it likely would be steadier if it was similar to RAW and was Dynamite the whole way through and had more of a whole show structure. I think there are long term risks to going to 3 hours every Wednesday but it likely would bring in significantly more viewers than the current iteration of Dynamite + Rampage. I wouldn't do it but I'm also not a businessman. I could see why WBD may prefer that.

I think they should just keep doing what they did here. Book the best shows possible, give fans variety on those shows, promote them well, etc.
And hopefully over time, the numbers will improve.
I also do think AEW needs to firmly established a hot main event act soon as well.

No, it's like the "no milly" week. I'll come back next week, there's just no point in trying to add levity to a thread that opened on such a banger.

Damn, why is Butcher getting dragged into the fight? There were seven other people in that quarter hour. Maybe everyone tuned in for Nana. THAT IS A DAMN LIE AND YOU KNOW IT!
