I'm all for it every once in a while. Use fake blood, I don't give a shit.

It can definitely add to a story in certain circumstances. But anyone slicing their own face open and pouring real blood everywhere is a total dumbass who's missing the point of their job.

I voted rare but... I really haven't missed it, in WWE... (and before the outright ban on it, it was getting to ridiculous levels)
Outside of a little shock value, I don't think it necessarily adds terribly much to a match.
and my thoughts in general are these people are already doing pretty grievous harm to their bodies for my entertainment I'm not going to demand they cut themselves for me too.

I don’t mind it on rare occasions. Definitely makes a match feel more violent. Though they could achieve that same level of violence if they just ran more injury angles and protected more moves. If someone got a move that’s usually a match ender on the floor and he missed a month, you could create the same (or greater) feeling of peril and violence as a dude bleeding from a face scratch.

When I was growing up and would watch wrestling with my parents, they had issues with the sexual content, some of the dialogue, but not the blood.
They didn't want me watching movies where people were being shot and stabbed, but they didn't have a problem with the violence in wrestling. No one was getting killed.

I can only think of two times where it makes sense: 1) at the beginning of an angle, have the heel leaves the face bleeding giving a(nother) reason for the feud and 2) the face leaving the heel bleeding at the end of the feud. Not necessary, but I can see why it would work. On a random house-show or tv taping? Not anymore.

My BA is Biology. Blading is literally never safe. There is zero way you can keep something steril while in an environment like a wrestling ring. If you do get a disease/infection, you can pass it along to your significant other and if it's undiagnosed, potentially your kid as well. There are now many instances of wrestlers getting infections and hepatitis from blading
Bret Hart's nephew died of an infection after bumping in a dirt ring. He did not even blade.

An accidentily busted lip or nose looks way more impactful than a blade job.

I'd go with the exceptionally rare option. I'd say maybe once a year to sell a blood feud, pardon the pun.

Best choice is the blood caps, tbh.
Like, I remember when HHH “busted” Roman’s nose on Raw in the build to their mania match and it came out that they used fake blood. And I couldn’t even tell difference!

I’m on the border between “as rarely as possible” and “never”. It can be a cool addition to storytelling, but I don’t think it’s all that necessary. I wouldn’t be upset if it went away forever.

I feel they do keep blood around because it can help make a storyline or match important to tell.
