Who would stick out as someone who would have done great with a Roman esqe push and someone who would have done poorly.
For great, I think Ric Flair in the 80s would have nailed it. As for bad, I can see TNA Jeff Jarrett being the worst choice.
What do you think?

There’s a guy doing it better than Roman right now with the IC belt

If either the NWA/WCW or WWF in 1993-94 would have been as persistent with Lex Luger as the WWE has been with Roman Reigns, he'd have been one of the biggest stars in wrestling history. Good looking, could talk, good in the ring with the capacity to be great with great opponents. It's a testament to him that he was as successful as he was with some horrendous cold-footed booking peppered throughout his career.
If they would've booked Sgt Slaughter in 1991 like they booked Bloodline Reigns, that certainly would've been something. Imagine that run being 2 or 3 times longer than it was. I love that era and I actually think Slaughter was a very good worker, but any time I'm watching a show from 1990-91 and I hear "atten...HUUUT!" and the endless snare drumroll hits, my enthusiasm for the show craters.

It worked for someone from 1984-1988, brother.

He didn't have a reign as long as Roman's though. He lost the belt a few times during that run as well to Kerry Von Erich, Dusty Rhodes, Ronnie Garvin, Ricky Steamboat, Sting and Fujinami before the run ended in 1991. Though you could say Roman needed his reign to work that way. I feel like he could have lost it a few times through some fashion and got it back quick.

Goldberg should have had this kind of reign, with Bischoff in place of Heyman.

Goldberg should have had this kind of reign, with Bischoff in place of Heyman. In 1998 WCW or 2003 WWE? I don't think it would have worked in WCW, but in WWE you perhaps could have had Bischoff build Raw into Nitro with Goldberg as his enforcer in a larger stable with Scott Steiner, Booker T, and Kevin Nash. But Evolution prevented anyone else from getting over on that show unless you were Shawn Michaels at that time. Perhaps the four as faces with Bischoff wanting to use them to rid WWE of Evolution who he feels because of his history with Flair and Triple H has gone too far. Heyman would have been better for Goldberg if that approach were to happen. He would be able to get the most out of Bill, whereas Eric would be getting himself over more than Bill.

He would be able to get the most out of Bill, whereas Eric would be getting himself over more than Bill. This is a really good point. Bischoff wouldn't have been nearly as effective as Heyman at making another person look like a big star. He worked with Hogan because Hogan was already a huge star who could carry his own weight on the microphone. Goldberg may have looked like a glorified bodyguard with Bischoff. That said, I was thinking of '99 WCW, when Goldberg was kind of floundering after the streak. WCW was heel-heavy at the time, though.
