This is probably a terrible idea! But even though I enjoyed this years Royal Rumble (and was very lucky to attend in person in 2023) I couldn’t help but feel a little ‘Rumble fatigue’ during the men’s match. It’s obviously been a double Rumble card ever since the women’s Rumble debuted. This also takes up a lot of the card, leaving not so much room for other matches. Is it too crazy to suggest that WWE could present the Rumble over two nights like they do Wrestlemania?
It may look something like the below:
Night one
Women’s Rumble match Intercontinental title match Tag team title match WHC match Women’s title match
Night two
Men’s Rumble match Blood/grudge match US title match Women’s World championship match WWE title match
Maybe I am in the minority and most people love having 2 rumbles for the price of one. The appeal was certainly there for me initially too but I really started to feel this year that perhaps there can be too much of a good thing.
Anyway, feel free to pick this apart/ridicule, I am just bored at work and writing what’s coming in to my head 😏

The move to a two night Mania was because cards were lasting for hours on end and tiring out fans and wrestlers both, not to mention a real headache for local infrastructure. The Rumble matches themselves go long, but otherwise it's a regular length event. Completely unnecessary.

No way! The Rumble is perfect with 2 Rumbles. It's my favorite night of the year.

While the cards lasted on end and it tired fans out, definitely not why it changed to two nights. Regardless, it probably wouldn't happen for a whole host of reasons, including they've been scheduling it during championship week in the NFL playoffs, so it's not going to be on a Sunday as long as it's on Peacock.

It kind of makes sense.... but I don't think it's a good time for a two night show (NFL playoffs) and I don't think we need more two night shows, IMO. Wrestlemania is the "show of shows" is a good one to make two nights. The Royal Rumble (with two different Royal Rumbles that could ME each night) does make sense, but I just don't think it's needed.

I mean, it was one of the solutions to cramming everyone, their mother and their distant relatives onto the card. Which somehow still doesn't work out because you put the Andre on Smackdown beforehand, which doesn't make sense but anyway.

Mania should remain the only two day event.
The Rumble opening with one division and closing with the other is perfect.

I don't think I like the idea of a two night Rumble, but I do agree that two Rumbles on one show has never really worked for me. It just feels like too much. But I'd rather they do that than have it over two nights.

... I think I'd like summerslam as a two day event. Treat it like a wrestling festival (perhaps a summerfest 😂😂) and since they're doing more overseas shows, would be a grand slam for international crowds that don't get to see the wrestlers in person that often

I feel like the royal rumble doesn't really need many other matches. It can have them, but let's be honest. People are tuning into Royal Rumbles for the Rumble matches. The rest is just garnish. Cut down on the other matches and keep it one night I think.

Mania gets away with it for being Mania, the Rumble would just be too much. You get Rumble fatigue now? Imagine when you get to the end of Night 1 and realize you have another 4 hours tomorrow
Like, Mania weekend takes a f***ing tonne out of me. By the time Raw ends on Monday I have watched so much wrestling in 4 days I'm physically and mentally exhausted. I'm good with that being only once a year
EDIT: A couple years back I tracked what I watched, and it was 48.5 hours of first run wrestling from go home Raw to night after Raw

I wish the Rumble was just the two Rumble matches every year, honestly. I rarely ever care about the other matches on the card.

The first year back in Tampa was also due to covid protocols. Since then, I think they realized they could get people to pay for two nights in person and on ppv, so why not double your gate, sales and views. It definitely had more to do with business than fatigue.

Especially now with PPVs being a thing of the past for most and using Peacock/monthly payments to watch the show, I'm perfectly fine with the Royal Rumble being a 4-5 match show, with two of those matches being the Rumbles.

Honestly, I always felt having two Rumble matches on the same show was not a good idea. Same with War Games actually, but that's a different story. I would keep doing the Men's Rumble at the Royal Rumble, and for the women I would bring back the women's-only Revolution PPV/PLE and do the Women's Rumble on that show.

Yeah, two of the same thing in one night is a lot. Just because the men or women do it, doesn’t mean the other needs to as well.
