I rarely hear anyone use the term Shine anymore. Maybe a few of the vets that are in their late 40s or older. This one's new to me. I had it explained to me this way. "See when you got a heel like say Joe in the ring and he is beating up the face,Joe is getting heat. But when it is the face coming back and looking good the face is getting his chance to shine." Seems to mostly be a southern wrestling thing. Cause I have heard Bill Dundee,Tracy Smothers and a few other southern legends use it when talking over their matches before a show. "So you get 2 minutes of heat, then I come back get a few minutes of shine. Hit the finisher and we are done"

"Educated Feet" for someone who uses martial arts kicks. Caveat : I haven't listened to Jim Ross in ages, so if he still does it, somebody make him stop. I keep it alive as my Fantasy football team name every year.

I was shocked to hear Tully Blanchard use the term "who shot John" during a backstage segment on Dynamite a few years ago. I don't think it had ever been used on tv, but I know it was an insider term used by the boys back in the day.

When a wrestler wins, a commentator (often Gorilla Monsoon) sometimes would say: “Let’s get the official word.” (Meaning let’s get the news of the winner from the ring announcer. I like this one, and a lot of Gorilla's commentary focusing on officials and other staff. It gives it a real sports feel. Any time there was a close up shot of the action "great shot by our number 5 handheld! He'll be looking for a little extra in his paycheck this week." Speaking of Gorilla-isms, when was the last time "SRO (standing room only) signs went out early. They are literally sold out hanging from the rafters!" The electricity is so thick you can cut it with a knife! This is a happening! All roads lead to WrestleMania! And why are there no more broadcast journalists in wrestling?

Has anyone reported Jack Perry being in the doghouse with nuclear heat?
Maybe they have and I just ignore that nonsense.

JR on commentary in the 90s talking about when wrestlers "turned pro" is f***ing surreal JR in general when he would give the stats about a wrestler. Anything from height, weight, background, and ext.
