JBL on Jericho. As stake as JBL’s character was by then, it still drew major heat.
The NEO attacking Flair in a field. Even though that segment embodied everything going wrong in WCW by then.

The Rock beating up Cody Rhodes bloody on Raw had me thinking of the other times throughout wrestling when a heel decided to escalate things by brutally assaulting a face to prove a point. Well, there was what his dad had happen to him via the Horsemen, including being handcuffed and beaten outside an arena. Probably why Cody wanted to have a moment like that.

Cody takes a good whupping, Brock decking him last year was pretty much the only standout moment for one of the worst Post-WM Raws you're ever likely to see.
Likewise, JBL's utterly obliteration of Hornswoggle in run up to WM24 was actually uncomfortable to watch after a certain point. Even VKM's character played it as though it went too far.

JBL destroying Hornswoggle in the cage came to mind. Just how slow and methodical it was. It wasn't JBL beating on Hornswoggle in a rage. He was slow and deliberate and that made JBL all the more scary.
And of course, a thread like this can't go without Nexus absolutely destroying everybody on their debut. Not the most violent, but excellently done--the build up with Barrett signalling to them, Cole and King realising Nexus were in the crowd and then the fact they beat on everybody even the Straight Edge Society.

I remember Eddie beating the hell out of Rey to turn heel in 05. Eddie’s whole titantron for a while there was just clips of him beating Rey’s ass there. Particularly that Brainbuster on the steps. Another classic one was Triple H beating up handcuffed Daniel Bryan in the build to Mania 30.

HHH beating Flair to a bloody pulp for an eternity to end Evolution wasn't uncomfortable, it was just like, enough already. We get it. It literally drug out over multiple segments. Like most things in that era it only served to fellate HHH's ego and portray him as the biggest badass of all time. 🙄
Rock vs Mankind at RR 99 to this day is the most upsetting and excessive beat down I've ever seen. Especially since I had been a huge Foley fan going back to the early 90's. He was probably the first bad guy I liked as a kid. At the time of the 99 RR I was a blood thirsty, 17 year old, die hard ECW fan. But watching that match I was yelling at the TV "that's enough already!" It felt more like a snuff film than a wrestling match. I've never watched it back and I never will.
JBL and Hornswoggle both always had "go away" heat with me. But that beat down in the cage even made me feel bad for Hornswoggle.
Yokozuna repeatedly squashing Duggan to the point he was bleeding from the mouth and carried out on a stretcher was super disturbing for 93 WWF.
Crush's turning on and beating down Savage upset me as a young fan.

I don't remember that, but the match that it led to between them at NYR 07 was also a shockingly bloody brawl. I saw it for the first time around 2013 or 2014 and even then I was shocked at the amount of blood I was seeing in a WWE match. Even 10 years ago it felt like something from a completely bygone era.

I remember WWF acting like Earthquake damn near MURDERED Hulk Hogan and then in the weeks afterward having people send in get well cards And the get well cards were just a ploy by the WWF to get fans addresses to mail them merchandise catalogs. 😂

Vader power bombing Cactus on the cement floor to end an episode of WCW Saturday Night in 93 wasn't necessarily a beatdown, but it felt very real and dangerous. It was the first time Cactus Jack had been portrayed as something other than an indestructible maniac.

Shawn Michaels when he turned on Jannetty. Hell, it was so bad Marty tried to escape out the window.

Undertaker beating the brakes off David Flair in the run-up to WMX8. Taker beat the holy hell out of Maven after the shock Rumble elimination as well.

Hardcore for its time, but Savage obliterating Ricky Steamboat's neck with the ring bell in their set-up to their WrestleMania match was brutal for kids my age around the time.

Terry Funk piledriving Ric Flair through a table was probably one of the earliest table spots in mainstream US wrestling. Either that or Harley Race going through one in a match with Hogan.

Andre only needed a single headbutt to get Lanny Poffo carried on a stretcher to the back.

Austin on JR just after Mania 17.
DDP getting beat up by the nWo after they came out and bullied Kimberly after she was dancing with the Nitro girls then DDP coming out for the save and inevitably getting beaten down in a 6 on 1 or however many members it was while the nWo made Kimberly watch was very well done. Nitro before DDP & Malone v Hogan & Rodman I think.
I remember a Smackdown from 2009 where Legacy beat down HHH for what felt like an hour to end the show.
