Place your bets now.
One week away from Cody getting another title shot at the main event of Wrestlemania.
Will Cody Rhodes win the titles at Wrestlemania XL or will he fall into an abyss he will never be able to get himself out of?

Yes, and I’m going to laugh my ass off at all of the “I was burned by Vince, Roman bores me soooo much, he’s passing Bruno for sure, Cody is going to be badly booked and never coronated” wrestling fans when the AND NEEEEEWWW echoes throughout Lincoln Financial.

Yes
But I wouldn't be at all surprised if WWE doesn't give us the finger and have a MITB cash in immediately after. Or, even worse, have Rock take the briefcase for circumstances and cash in. Actually, I don't think that would be a bad idea. Rhodes gets to dethrone Reigns, but then gets screwed over setting up Cody vs Rock at the next big PPV. With the way this feud has gone, Cody has to face Rock now.
This is the first time I have bothered keeping up with and even watching bits of the WWE for years--I tuned out when it was clear Reigns was gonna be top dog because I just found him so boring. If Cody wins, or even if Rock cashes in--I will likely keep watching.
Reigns wins, I am checking out again until he finally goes away.

I’m leaning towards yes but wouldn’t be all too surprised. There’s no reason for Roman to retain. He’s not going to beat Bruno’s record and it’s just silly for him to retain just to beat Hogans record of 3rd place…

Hoping yes but I'm feeling like the answer is no. Doesn't feel like they're building this like they would if it was the end of Roman's title run.

He’s not going to beat Bruno’s record and it’s just silly for him to retain just to beat Hogans record of 3rd place… At Wrestlemania, he would be at 1,316+ days. Hogan was at 1,474 days so that would be 159 days to pass his reign. So the exact date he passes Hogan and I'm sure WWE is eager to get him to pass Hogan, would be September 13th, 2024. A Friday Night Smackdown.

I voted no but I hope he does. It's very easy to imagine WWE deciding to have Roman beat the Hogan number. Cody has signed an extension, so it's also very easy to imagine WWE thinking that Cody has stayed over, and become more over, without the belts in the past year therefore he doesn't need to win at Wrestlemania. It's also very easy to imagine WWE booking like it's 80s NWA and thinking the money is in the chase when WWE historically has been a babyface on top kind of company. It's also very easy to imagine WWE helping rehab the Rock's star persona after his shaky 2023 by putting the focus of the angle on him and not Cody in the weeks and months ahead.
It's up to WWE, and not me as someone casually watching (and not enjoying) one of their weekly shows (Smackdown) and watching Wrestlemania nights #1 and #2, to earn the benefit of the doubt here.

I just feel the Bloodline’s looked a bit too strong and smugger than last year. Roman hasn’t had a major crisis in a while since the Jey Uso feud, and Cody didn’t have his back to the wall as much previously.
They’ve been way too happy lately, outside of Roman raising his eyebrow (pun intended) and hoping that Rock keeps following orders. Something bad’s going to happen to them fairly soon to keep the drama high, I predict.

Yes. Quite simply, Cody has to win, dude is on the verge of megastardom and WWE cannot afford to have him bottle it for the second year in a row. If Cody isn't champion on April 7th something has gone horribly wrong.

Won’t be surprised either way. Honestly don’t care too much either way really. Whatever happens going forward will just have major Rock involvement for no good reason anyways.
edit: voted yes

There's no real middle ground here. He's either getting one of the biggest world title wins arguably in the history of wrestling or he's going to be like 93-94 Lex Luger and feel like his peak moment has passed. Worse even because even if Luger won at Summerslam 93 or Mania 94 I don't think he was going to be like a megastar anyway. Cody though is at worst one of the top 2-3 biggest babyface stars of the past 20 years and this win is the kayfabe thing he needs to make it official and mark his spot in history.
I'm 99% sure he's winning. I was 95% sure he was winning last year though and ended up having to change my name to say I was wrong for a month. Are we doing that again this year?

I hope so. I can see it going either way... but I hope they don't see that their terrible storytelling of last year worked and go for a threepeat. the Bloodline has lost all of it's steam last year... and like both Cody and Roman's stories make way more sense if Cody won... and Roman wasn't around for like 7 months of last year. There's no real middle ground here. He's either getting one of the biggest world title wins arguably in the history of wrestling or he's going to be like 93-94 Lex Luger and feel like his peak moment has passed. Lex probably wouldn't have been a megastar if he won at Summerslam... but he wouldn't have lost all of his momentum like he did. The crowd saw him as a loser one that acted like winning by countout was some massive feat.

I think he will but because it's WWE I expect them to do some kind of "shocked/stunned fans hands on head" reaction shot twist like Damian cashing in or the Rock getting the belt via shenanigans. HHH loves him some "the hero finally gets their championship and it's 'shockingly' immediately taken from them" moments, WWE loves them some sad fan reactions, Cole's gonna say something like "Cody has finished his story... [solemn voice] but a new one has begun..." to end the show.
Best case Cody just wins and it's a happy ending after 4 f***ing years of Reigns winning, but it's entirely possible they f*** it up again and have Roman just win because of the ol "hmmm the background champion going into Wrestlemania feels like an afterthought, mahyaps what if they win the match nobody expects them to win to pull one over on the marks and delay this even just a bit longer hmmmm?" a la HHH at WM16, Orton at WM24, Miz at WM27, a few other title reigns like the time E&C retained against the Hardys because Vince and co thought everyone was expecting them to win too mmuch.

Hardly unreasonable that people aren't certain it's happening this time.

It’s the 40th Wrestlemania which is a decade anniversary mania, where all the happy endings and historic moments happen (Bret at Mania 10, Benot/Eddie at Mania 20, Bryan at 30, streak ending at 30). Cody is the biggest babyface since Cena and this will cement it, they pivoted from The Rock vs Roman because the fans forced a pivot, they had to turn the Rock heel, it would be f***ing stupid to have the same exact main event two years in a row with the same exact ending, the ending would be a PR nightmare for the Rock who is trying to rehab his image, and I’m sure they will be doing Cody vs the Rock at Summerslam and that match would be way better with the title on the line, and Cody is done for as a top star if he chokes twice in a row. So all that logic points to Cody winning, but I’m not gonna say it’s 100% lol

Hardly unreasonable that people aren't certain it's happening this time. For real, it's weird to be condescending about folks worried that this four year title reign (that has at least three points that would have been perfect points to end it and numerous others that would have been fine closers) could possibly keep sludging forward after another deflating win. And throw in years and years of WWE booking primarly for this reaction: Like, WWE earned the skepticism entirely on their own.
