Crazy to think that both of these matches featured four very capable and accomplished workers. If given some time either one of these matches could have been good to great.

The Mountie needed a win to get himself over enough for the upcoming Boss Man feud, and give the cattle prod its first (and only) mania use.

Owen v Skinner should have been dropped at mania 8 instead of Bulldog v Bezerker. Have Davey Boy powerslam the big lug and pin him in less than a minute to help build him towards Summerslam at Wembley.

Hard to choose. The spasm sells of the cattle prod always made me uncomfortable. But Skinner spitting tobacco in Owen’s face is also gross.

By that era Mountie and Tito could both still go. Owen was good but,and I loved Memphis and Florida era Steve Kiern,Skinner wasn't good.

I get what you're saying, but Skinner didn't even get a chance. The gimmick was on tv for maybe 3 months before getting jobbed out. The only competitive match he had in this run was against Bret at Tuesday in Texas, and I thought that match was decent. Not a classic, but more than most people were doing during that era of WWF. I think Owen and Skinner could have done at least as good as the Bret vs Skinner match.

Yeah, the gimmick wasn't doing him favors, but he wasn't anywhere near his prime, either.

Tito vs. Mountie. The Mountie was a rising star and Tito was former IC/tag champ and had just been in the grand finale of Survivor Series.

Owen vs. Skinner was one step up from bringing out two jobbers.
