The original Ppv broadcast of the Royal Rumble 1993 opening match (Steiners/Beverlys) had for the first Sat seven minutes had no commentary and for years (especially as a 12 year old, I thought that the announcers didn’t feel like talking. Not even does Closed Captioning show up.) Turns out there was a major audio issue and when it came time for at least the home video release, the announcers (Gorilla/Brain) had to either redo their commentary or it was fixed. The network and presumably the anthology versions don’t have this glitch. I am also assuming that the instant replay didn’t have it either.

When they did the whole commentators fighting angle in late 2003 (I wanna say it was JR & Lawler vs Coachman & Al Snow), there must have been some parts where there were no commentary. It wasn't the most memorable of angles so I don't recall.
Edit: Just looked this up. So it happened at least once. Lawler & Snow had a match on RAW. Coachman & JR were on commentary. Lawler won, JR celebrated, Coachman knocked JR out from behind and ran away, and the rest of that segment was without commentary.

The four of them had a match against each other at Unforgiven 2003 with no commentary for the whole thing. Afterwards, even though JR and Lawler lost and therefore lost their commentary jobs to Coachman and Snow, they still called HHH vs. Goldberg.

It was such an odd choice having Art Donovan, who had never done wrestling commentary from what I understand, on for the entire show. If they wanted him on commentary, because he was a big name and a local legend, having him on for one match would have been better. At all other times when they used celebs at this time, they had them on for five/ten minute segments, not the whole show. Uh-oh!!! Except for all of WrestleMania 2, oh-oh!!! Yeah...uh-oh!!!

The Fiend's original entrance. I think it even got a holy shit chant from the crowd as well if I recall.

An example of the opposite happened in NXT season 3 during AJ Lee Vs Naomi. Cole and Josh Matthews go from resolutely ignoring the match to OH WOW! and excitedly commentating on the in ring action for the remaining couple of minutes of the match.

I somehow forgot about that. At least this wasn't for 3 hrs.

One of my favorite calls ever is nearing the end of the match when Hulk Hogan beats Iron Shiek for the title. He breaks the Camel Clutch to an enormous pop. Pat Patterson is doing color. He says "Fans are going wild and I'm so excited....I don't even wanna talk I wanna watch the match!". I don't think Pat says anything after that. Gorilla Monsoon calls the action through the pin and then lays out and lets the us hear the roar of the crowd for a while before summarizing "History made in Madison Square Garden and the fans are on their feet.....Hulkamania....is here". After which, the commentary lays out for another 30 or so seconds waiting for Finkel to give the official word. It's just such a great bare-bone production of the moment the really kicked off the modern presentation of American pro wrestling.

I always wondered why Gorilla sounded really funny at this PPV. I wonder if it had to do with the audio set up. His voice was unusually different from all his other PPVs, I think. I can't remember Bobby because Gorilla's voice was just so different and way he spoke was just so different. It was like an AI in 1993.

When Matt Hardy returned and attacked Edge in 2005 during his match with Kane.
The commentators went quiet which actually fooled a lot of fans into thinking it was a real attack.
