The show was 4 hours long (plus the coliseum exclusive segments) so they split it into two tapes. Fair enough, but the break point for tape 1 was the middle of the Hogan/Andre match. Couldnt they have just made it so that the Hogan/Andre match either closes tape one or opens tape 2?

I always thought it was strange to have the cut there. It would have made sense to have that match open tape two.

The show was so boring they thought the only way to make you watch tape 2 was to end tape 1 on a cliffhanger.

I think the cut in the middle of the Hogan/Andre was for suspense.
I had this VHS as a kid, first one of two I owned and I watched it all the time. I made a 2 foot tall thing of steps out of VHS tapes to mimic the set up.
Looking back now, I'd probably find it boring but not sure how else you could run it. It would be just as boring if you put all the battle royal guys in singles or tag matches because they weren't in feuds.
The coliseum extras were very cool.

This is only semi-related, but it wasn't until I watched the Anthology DVDs of the early WrestleManias that I realized how edited the Coliseum versions were.
