Considering his last real match was 11 years ago and he got severely injured in that match, there's no other way to look at it than to say it was way better than expected.
A tag team match was the perfect spot for The Rock. He could get all his spots in, but the moment he started to get gassed, he could tag out or rely on a brawl of some sorts to get him out of the way. Had his return been a 30-minute singles match, I think we'd all be singing a different tune.
But credit to him - he got his ass kicked all over the stadium and wasn't afraid of being on the receiving end of some signature spots. In that regard, it kind of reminded me of Stone Cold's match with Kevin Owens at WrestleMania 38.
That said, I did get a good laugh out of a few classic "self-centered" Dwayne Johnson moments: him being the only one of the four to have a special entrance and it being so unbelievably over-the-top, and him carrying around the People's Championship like it's anything other than a prop for him to hold to feel special next to Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins holding the belts that actually matter.

When he wrestled Cena he went out there and tried to have a Rock 2000 match. That was a horrible mistake. Last night he went out, played the hits and worked a smoke and mirrors match. That was a much smarter and safer idea and I thought he looked pretty damn good.
And I’ll say it again, nobody sells a spear like the f***ing Rock. You swear someone shot him in the gut point blank with a 12 gauge

You swear someone shot him in the gut point blank with a 12 gauge I thought he was great in that 2012 Cena match. He did a lot of cool stuff in that match, busting out majistral cradles and crossbodies from the top which I don’t think he’d did since his 96-97 rookie days. He was faster and more explosive than last night. Obviously I’m giving him more leeway now as he’s a decade older but I doubt he could have a singles match as good as Wrestlemania 28 in 2024. Luckily for him it would mostly be about the atmosphere and he wouldn’t be expected to pull off a workrate match anyway if he faces Roman and/or Cody.

It's a crime that The Rock never stood tall at the end of a WrestleMania during his prime.
I was happy that he got the pin last night.

I feel like they worked a slow pace to disguise his limitations, and other than that weird spot where it looked like he lost his balance after punching Seth in the balls, he hid his age and ring rust pretty well out there.

Weird question, but I have never seen anyone else with the boots with the calves cut out like Rocky.
Where did that come from?
