It is a boom period for sure. It's less culturally relevant than previous boom periods but that's more due to how society functions.

Even if it's not an exact science like money/inflation is there not a way to roughly work out how today's ratings compare to previous years? Like if cable has went down whatever % each year take that into account and work backwards to estimate what 2 million viewers in 2024 would be the equivalent to in previous years. It would be interesting to know specifically is this the best period since 2012, 2005, 2001 etc?
The success of Rock/Cena/Batista has helped wrestling get more respect too I think. When Hogan tried to do movies or other stuff it was usually treated like a joke but these guys are genuine stars in their outside projects. It was kinda surreal to watch the Oscars and see Cena present an award and be like the most viral moment of the show then walk backstage and shake hands with Rock and Bad Bunny so 3 guys who've wrestled in the past year. And in my experience it's not like when say Cena is on TV the average person is like "hey, it's that actor guy John Cena", most seem to know and respect that he's a wrestler too and a lot will know you can't see me etc. The idea of wrestling is more embraced and less ridiculed that it used to be. Hell just last night I heard Cody's theme song playing during half-time of the Arsenal-Bayern Munich Champions League QF.
It must still exist, probably from your Joe Rogan/dudebro types, but there seems to be a lot less making fun of wrestling/"what is this fake shit" type stuff compared to years ago. Geek culture in general has taken over the past 10-20 years so there's less looking down on what used to be niche hobbies across the board I guess.

Tried finding some numbers and it was a little difficult, but I did see a chart where the number of cable/satellite/telco subscribed households in the US went from around 102 million in 2014 to 57.3 million in 2023. Not sure if it would directly correlate to Nielsen ratings however as I think Nielsen numbers are linked with certain Live tv streaming platforms like YouTube TV.

I think it is a boom period, but hard for me to say it is as big as the Attitude Era or Hulkamania. They bragged about my town having the biggest gate ever late last year, but attendance was about half that of a Hogan match I went to. I guess with inflation and higher ticket prices it is probably true. The crowds do look pretty big most weeks. The ratings will probably never be like the Attitude Era ratings again. There is just too much streaming competition.

By WWE standards? These are the best numbers, metrics, and ticket sales they've done in ages
They're on an insane hot streak, idk if it's a "New boom period", but they definitely are in a better position then it feels like they have been in awhile

Nearly two years ago, Triple H was given authority and everyone expected things would get better. It started out well with Trips bringing back his "children" like Dakota Kai, Karrion Kross, etc. It also appeared there were some production changes before some speed bumps happened like Vince coming back into power. Stephanie leaving also made it look like we had hit a wall. But we're finally in a position that probably should have existed almost two years ago. So let's see where we are a year from now after Trips has had a few more months to actually do what he wants.

From what I understand, since Triple H took over creative, Vince had very little to do with booking the shows. What we've seen on TV since Summer Slam 22 is Triple H's vision.

It's a big and sustained increase from what was happening for a long long time, so that's definitely a boom to me. I have to admit I wasn't actually sure another one was coming, to this level. I thought WWE would continue to trundle along fine but suffer the same gradual slicing thinner and thinner that everything on tv does. Trying to compare to Attitude or Rock n Wrestling is a little more difficult, because if you go by tv audience then Attitude was just a blip compared to Hogan vs Andre, say. And Attitude definitely wasn't a blip. It is a boom period for sure. It's less culturally relevant than previous boom periods but that's more due to how society functions. Yeah, succinctly and accurately put.

Is 'read OP' a trend now? Why would the kind of person who doesn't read OPs anyway obey that instruction?
