I remember ten years ago, wrestlecrap.com, posted this under their Somebody Bought This and it was during the sites previous incarnation. One person posted said he has cassette tapes of episodes of Radio WWF. Since the site has been redesigned, that comment has been erased. Anybody know of ANYONE who has them? www.wrestlecrap.com/someone-bought-this/radio-wwf/

what was the point of this? People would actually pay to listen to a show than watch it?

what was the point of this? People would actually pay to listen to a show than watch it? No, it was free. You just had to have a local radio station that carried it. However, WCW did some live, audio-only broadcasts from house shows around 1997-98 for about $8 or so per event.

So far as I know a good deal of these are now lost media. There’s one infamous recording of Savage on it from 1996, where he supposedly accuses Hogan of steroid abuse and causing his divorce on air, but it’s never been found to confirm if it even exists. There are a couple that have been found and uploaded to YouTube but I think limited airings and people not really recording radio like they did TV at the time mean most of them will probably remain lost unless WWE still has them somewhere.

I called the hotline once during the NWA/WCW transition before a PPV was over and Lance Russell was commentating I believe and I was paying by the minute to get a play by play of the main event, which I quickly gave up on.

Speaking of the 900 number, recordings of those must exist somewhere, right? I’d like to check out some after Mean Gene took over as there’s bound to be some fun historical oddities in there. Gene talking coded insider gossip at an incredibly slow pace isn’t something I’d pay money for 30 years ago, but I’d sacrifice a few minutes if some of it popped up on YouTube or something.

The only Radio WWF content I have come across was a partial segment from the 1994 Royal Rumble. I would like to think that WWF recorded the audios of these show somewhere. They would make great bonus tracks to the shows! Someone should ask Ben Brown and get this on an episode of Hidden Treasures. youtu.be/Ort7eIeuwrU?si=VLF3ASWzlnYkJ8pn

if it existed, you'd think Conrad Thompson would've found a way to get it and put it on his AdFreeShows network. I know he's done that with Jim Ross' old radio shows.

There are the WWF Hotline tapes as I own them but I believe only a recording of the WCW one. I have not seen anymore
