We used to have one of these but I can't find it and it might have been a decade ago. Anyhow, seen an old match recently you want to rave about to others? Here's the thread for you. Maybe Omos had a 5 star match in FCW you only just saw, or there's a forgotten Terry Funk classic from the 70s on YouTube, or hell, you just saw Owen Hart v Edge or Punk v Hero for the first time. Tell us all here.
I'll open with the match I saw last night.
Bam Bam Bigelow vs 123 Kid
(taped 13th December 1994, shown Action Zone January 1995)
(can be found on Dailymotion currently)
Bam Bam must have high fived the bookers when he saw himself booked against small guys, it was a formulae that always brought something special. The story here is that Bigelow and the Kid are half of the two teams that have reached the final of the Tag Team Title Tournament (Royal Rumble 1995), and the 123 Kid wants to challenge Bam Bam one on one. This is a fun David v Goliath type match, with the much smaller Kid enthusiastically going after every error, and the staggered Bigelow returning with power. One fun sequence sees two spirited kicks to the head by the Kid met by Bam Bam flinging him across the ring. Bigelow's power and agility mesh well with Waltman's agility and refusal to die, and there's some convincing near falls. I had no idea which way it was going to end, so I won't spoil the end sequence, but I will say there's a great reverse powerbomb spot, and another "rumble elimination spot" and both men looked strong. This match has only been reviewed by one person on Cagematch who gave it 7/10. Despite being a fan of both men, I'd never heard of this match until now and it's a lot of fun.
